Alrighty to get started I'm new to vaping and have learned a little more about rebuilding. right now I have a sig s sitting on the eleaf istick 50w. the build I have is two coils ,which I believe is called dual coils, it's 28 gauge wire and they are both wrapped 7 times and this comes to .4 ohms. now, how would I find out all of this with an ohms law calculator? I don't know what I'm supposed to plug into the equation and i would really like to mess around with building better stuff thanks in advance for any and all help this new hobby has just about helped me kick nasty ol' tobacco.

Well checkout steam engine. They have a good calculator for this.

Edit:

Forgot to mention, what you have now is 2, .8ohm coils paralleled to create essentially .4 ohms of resistance. Anytime you put 2 coils in parallel, it cuts your resistance in half.

If your new to could building, I suggest checking out the coil building section on this forum. They have some crazy builds I never even thought of doing. Right now, I'm experimenting with Clapton coils. Which by the way is a first class ticket to flavor town on my istick 30w.

I was doing dual nano coils and then decided to go with one 30ga Clapton coil. Way better (for my setup)

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Thanks I didnt even know about that. It's really simple to use too I really appreciate it.

No worries! I don't use it as much as I should. I just wing it since the istick give you the ohm readout and I buy wire 100 feet at a time just so I can experiment. But it definitely is a cool tool that I should probably take advantage of more.

Good luck with the builds!

Hi and welcome. You'll find a good online Ohms Law calculator at ohmslawcalculator.com this is the one I use. While a solid understanding of Ohms law is necessary for a good coil builder, the safety issues are much less problematic when using a regulated mod like your iStick. Doing that, one depends on the mod electronics for safety. It is when you are using a mechanical mod-- particularly a one-battery tube mod-- you must be much more careful. Your .4 build is reasonable on your iStick, for example, but is lower than I personally care to go on a mech. FWIW, I find coils built between .5 and .7 ohms, fired between about 17 and 25 watts, to be a sweet spot for a combination if vapor and flavor in a dripper. That's a personal preference thing, however, so you'll have to experiment for yourself.
