So, I got the ProVari......& lip schmutz!

In the meantime, I didn't get any new tanks (YET) since I already had 2 iClear 30's that I got with my MVP's. (and replacement coils for them that I want to use up) Never liked the taste of the steel drip tip but I figured I'd give them a try once more and they seem to be working out okay.....Except for the lip schmutz on the drip tip.

I know there was a discussion about this awhile back but I just wanted to know if anyone has come to the conclusion as to why it happens and what have you done about it. In my experience it only happens with the steel tips. What say you, any suggestions??

Also, I'm not real crazy about the rotating tip either but I have to use up the coils (approx. 20) I bought for it.

Yeah, I've tried that too but it looks kinda tacky to me. Unless I'm at home.

these cheap pyrex from Fast Tech also fit if you add 2 extra o rings...they do break however

Everyone likes something different, it seems. I really like the rotating tip on the 30S. Also, after reading your post, I examined my tip and see no sign of anything on it. Clean as a whistle.

I've never experienced that before. I do have to rinse my DTs once in a while to keep them clean, but nothing is ever on the outside of them, including the metal tips. I used to hate metal DTs, but I used one for a while and have changed my mind now

Hmm, it is a dry time of the year. Lip balm maybe?

Ah ha, see it does happen to others too!! I find that if I'm not near running water, I'm using a tissue and that doesn't always work well. Thx Comma!

It happens to me too, only on the metal drip tips. I just clean or scrap it off. I do wonder if chapstick would help.

it's the only thing I really don't like about the Iclear 30,,,,,,the non replaceable metal drip tip,,,,,,I don't care for the rotating part either,,,,,

Lip balm does work. The lip smutz is caused from shedded dead cells and dried saliva from the lips. The lip balm acts as a second skin or as a barrier to keep the metal drip tip clean.

It was in the title of the thread?? Basically she was telling the story of still having some I-clears and replacement heads that she wanted to use up and the I-clear has a metal drip tip which tend to pick up lip debris. The story wasn't a "Provari" story but rather a story about someone who purchased one.

Well, she got a new Provari in white with a blue LED and she loves it! Before buying a new tank for it, she's planning to use up the 20 coils she purchased for her iclear, which happens to have the lip schmutz issue... and she was asking about that on the side.



btw, though... in my experience wearing lip balm, it's made a stainless steel tip worse. I just wipe them off when I see it or feel it and I do wash them regularly.

ETA: I've also noticed it's worse if I'm not getting properly hydrated. DRINK MAS WATER.

Doing the happy dance here! I love the iClear30s on my ProVari but hate metal tips!
I had my hubby take a cutoff wheel and remove the top part of the iClear,
It worked!
Now I can use ANY tip I want and enjoy the combo I love!
