...and I'm loving it so far. I know a lot of users like the high end mods that the 501 largely brings to the arena, but I'm always running and always on the go, so having an e-cig that's more along the lines of an analog sized device is something I prefer. I got them in automatic and blank. I can't say I'm dissatisfied in the slightest degree. Granted, it's day 1, but so far I'm sitting here happy with my purchase and vape.

I ordered a 5 pack of blank cartomizers along with the order, including some menthol ice juice. Using the condom method I filled the 5 cartomizers with ease. Already I'm seeing how refilling is going to be significantly cheaper than buying pre-filled cartomizers, even if I have to buy a continual flow of replacement cartomizers every once in a while.

My question comes in as I compare the cartomizers that came with the KR808D1 kit versus the blanks I bought and filled. When I use the ones that came with the kit, they have a whistle sound to them. The blanks however do not have a whistle sound to them, though I can hear air coming through the small openings. Visually inspecting each type of cartomizer, they look identical. I just don't see a difference.

Is this for whatever reason expected behavior? I figured I'd ask instead of wonder about it. I'm wondering if where the threads start versus where they end if it's aligning the holes in a different fashion that causes them to make the whistle noise. Visually, I cannot see a difference, but with tiny metal objects that are machined accordingly it's impossible to tell.

At any rate, I prefer the blanks I got regardless since they're black, so the entire KR808D1 is black (personal preference), but part of me was hoping to burn through these other cartomizers and use them as spares with my juice of choice and hold them as backups for the future. But like I said, couldn't help but to wonder.

Regardless, it's time for a happy dance. Vape on!

The "I got my vapemail!" happy dance: :rickroll:

I'm so proud of you, roasted! (And come to find out you're another menthol vaper, too! What brand juice did you get? Do you like it?)

I've had whistling carts and wheezing carts and carts that popped on the first pull and some that gurgle occasionally. Never found any qualititative difference between them in the long run. It may have to do with how the various parts are aligned, or how the filling is packed. I also, once, had a DOA cart that simply didn't work at all. I wouldn't sweat it; remember that carts are considered "disposable," not intended to last forever, and even with occasional attrition, you're still saving $$$ over cigarettes.

You might want to try different brands of blank cartomizers, particularly horizontal vs vertical coil, to see what you like best. I've tried Kangar, V2, V4L, and Bloog and prefer the latter. I will always buy blanks and fill juice as opposed to purchasing pre-filled cartomizers. Although I do enjoy my V2 black automatic batteries, I also enjoy and mostly use my 510-threaded tube mods with tanks and RBAs.

I found these shortly after I got my order of blank cartridges for my 808 batteries...e-Smart clearomizers - package of 5

These work very well, no spilling/leaking, screw on tip, easy to fill and they hold more juice. I've recently had to dispose of my first one, I bought them a month ago.

I agree, I have 10 of these and I am still using my first one for 2 weeks now. The Kanger T4 is a nice alternative if you want a smaller size clearomizer 0.9ml vs the eSmart 1.3ml. Both are great.

TLS01 and yellowxboy, YES! I love the Kanger e-smart clearos. Tried the V2 clearos, but they're a "buggy beta" version and I'm waiting for them to resolve a few problems. The e-smarts have the threaded mouthpiece, very convenient, and I like the larger size: fewer refills required!

Roasted, when/if you get around to trying clearomizers, I'd strongly recommend the Kanger e-smarts.

Dang this new hobby is going to burn a hole in my pocket. Don't get me wrong, I love the KR808D1's, but I depleted two batteries already today alone. I can't help but to wonder I need to get some sort of larger 1000mAh+ battery, or something, to hold me over as my "vape when I'm on the deck for 3-4 hours in a row" e-cig. Then again, I do have a 380mAh battery coming for the KR808D1... perhaps that will hit the spot just enough?

Darn hobbies with upgrade fever. Gah.

But in other news, I absolutely love the KR808D1. I'm really glad I stuck with automatic too. I was puffing away on the riding mower earlier. A manual in that case have been far from convenient. A primer puff when the e-cig gets cold is hardly a concern in comparison to the convenience. Now, if I set my sights on a relax-on-the-deck-all-night e-cig, I might venture to the manual... time to shop...

Granted I'm a total rookie at this, but I am definitely enjoying the full black look. The carto filling process is also brainless as can be. It took me no time at all to fill the 5 blanks I purchased. I'm going to cycle through using the same two cartomizers so I can get a feel for when it's time to pitch them and switch to new ones.

And last, but not least, I feel good, dangit. :D

This is the biggest complaint most people have with the cigalikes: the life of the battery and/or cartomizer. The ONLY non disposable cigalike that lasted worth a darn was Mistic. Battery usually lasted me the entire day, and the cart lasted me maybe 2 when I first started on them. Now, I could go back and they would last me 3-4 days, and the cart would last me a week.

The reason behind this is because Mistic is essentially a disposable that can be recharged. They are the EXACT same size as the Blu disposable, which lasts 1-2 full days, vs the blu rechargeable, which lasts maybe an hour.

Well done, roasted! In such a short time, you've: acquired your first rank of backups; condom filled carts; realized that startup costs may be more than you might have spent on smokes during the same period (but that will even out over time and eventually you'll see the true economies of vaping); and you're already considering upgrades for "sittin on the deck" vaping. And most important of all, you're feeling good!

Don't know what size battery your GS's are, but you'll probably see substantially longer vape time with the 380 mAhs.

Happy vaping!

Well, today is my birthday, so I treated myself.

2x Vision Spinner VV eGo Battery 1300mAh - Black

2x Kanger MT3 eGo B/C Clearomizer - Stainless

And charger with USB cable. I should have quite a nice setup here. Want to vape while mowing? Automatic kr808d1 to the rescue. Going camping without electricity and aiming for an all night vape? Spinner 1300's are ready to rock.

Speaking of camping, I'm doing so this Friday. For some extra insurance I overnighted these goodies since overnight was oddly cheap... Only 13 bucks. I expected twice that.

Hopefully this stifles my quickly growing newfound hobby a little bit. ;-)

:) yeah my only complaint about my halo G6 batteries is that they don't last long. Gonna upgrade to the Triton battery since their threading accepts my 808d stuff :D 1300mAh will definitely last you a day.

Mary, I got my cleartos from LiteCigUsa (Kanger T4) and VaporKings (eSmart clearos 5 pack).

Yeah... I really do enjoy my 808. It'll definitely be my on-the-go e-cig when I'm going from office to office. But they are admittedly a little painful when you're planning on spending a few hours outside relaxing. Considering that's what we'll be doing 100% of the time we're camping, it was a bit of a concern. A pair of charged 1300's should last me quite a while I hope. :p

I just hope I ordered it in time. We'll be out of town come Friday morning, and Fedex delivers in the evening in this area, so my shipping window is realistically Tuesday-Thursday since Monday is Memorial Day. Hopefully overnight shipping will do the trick. Some places don't seem to understand what overnight shipping is, or at least that the point of overnight shipping is nullified if you take 6 days to ship the item out... hence my concern. :p

So of course now that my order is placed I managed to come up with a confusion question that I want to iron out. I decided to look up replacement parts of the mixed kit I ordered above. In that I got Kanger MT3 clearomizers. I found them here on MVS:

Kanger MT3 eGo B/C Clearomizer

In the description it talks about the threading differences and specifically says it is not 510 threaded. Can somebody confirm for me exactly how this works? I got the Spinner 1300 mAh batteries, and they specifically say 510 threaded.

Vision Spinner VV eGo Battery 1300mAh

Is the lack of 510 thread on the MT3's, but 510 thread on the Spinner battery, yet they somehow having the ability to work together thanks to the funky cone thread they have on the MT3's? Even with the picture, I just wasn't entirely clicking with how something blatantly listed as not 510, and another listed as 510, is somehow compatible... Perhaps I'm looking into this too hard. After all, they bundled these items as a piece-builded kit, so it should definitely work if that's how they're selling it. :p

Likewise, what if I upgrade to a replaceable battery system down the road. Would I end up needing a new clearomizer or tank of some sort? Or would I be able to make these MT3's work?

EDIT - Out of curiosity I began digging around for a battery that had replaceable batteries inside, like the 18650. I found this gizmo:

http://www.litecigusa.net/Joye_ego_t_Mod_Battery_p/ego-tmodbatt.htm

Only thing is, this guy is 510 threaded. If I wanted to use the MT3, I wouldn't be able to without the use of the adapter. Er wait, scratch that. This mod battery I just linked is an eGo battery, and the MT3 threads onto the outer cone of eGo batteries. So I guess I wouldn't need an adapter AND I'd have a compatible battery setup with replaceable batteries?

Just trying to map out my future purchase. Some of these 18650 batteries are pretty cheap to replace, but also at the expense of buying another unit and charger for them. Maybe a few months down the line if the Spinner 1300's start depleting themselves I'll consider something like this battery mod.
