I got a bunch of new stuff Ive never tried before (noob here) the other day based off reading stuff on here. Got a pack of Boge cartos, A Cisco LR 2 atty, and some HH357 1.5 attys.

First to try was the cartos, I was VERY pleased at first, but once it dried out after the initial fill, I found it hard to squonk a carto, just couldnt get the hang of it, so off it came..and on went the hyped HH357. Day 1 I was AMAZED, I thought I would never want anything else, until day 2. The draw became very stiff, flavor and vapor dropped off. I can compare it the the performance of the standard attys Reo sells....so off it came for a nice steam bath...and on went the Cisco LR 2(says LR2 on the side in gold). I must say Im really enjoying this atty at the moment (much like everything else at first). Draw is easy, vapor/flavor/TH is great. Also blind squonking is much easier since I can actually hear when its "ready" unlike the others..

Just had to vent that every time I find something I like at first, I quickly find something I dislike..I just cant win..

Crossing my fingers with this Cisco LR 2..for now!

I tell all new vapers to find one thing you can use and stick with it for a while .One step at a time this limits your frustration .
When I first started selling mods I made the wood reo it could run any atomizer .Customers would go from one atomizer to another and get frustrated .Stick with one thing that works and play with other atomizers cartomisers when you have some slack time :)

Yeah Im trying to find something I like. The 357 will go back on for another try tomorrow. The cartos though...well I dont know yet!

I guess ease of draw is what I tend to lean toward, but vapor and flavor must still be there, the HH357 did everything well, until day 2..

Steam cleaning the hh.357. The instructions are to blow it out from the connector end then soak it in pga or high proof vodka for an hour. Remove from the alcohol, blow out again from the connector end, and let it dry for a little while before priming. Never dry burn and never blow out from the open end.

The 24th will be three months of daily use for my 2.0 ohm hh.357. The first 15 ml was AVE flue cured (100% VG), and then the next 250+ ml has been AVE 555 (100% VG). I have been cleaning every 30 ml or 6 days whichever comes first. I have only deviated from the cleaning instructions a couple of times when I forgot the atty was in some vodka and let it soak over night. --- It was just today I noticed a little bit of a drop off from the normal performance, so I'm going to deviate from the instructions again and give it an over night vodka soak. Apparently, that puts the seal at risk, and i probably wouldn't chance it but I know I have another one waiting to be brought in to service whenever this one does give up and die. Three full months of perfect vaping = I got enough value from a $22 investment to be satisfied even if it's dead in the morning (which it probably won't be - I bet it will be as good as new again)

So, I'm not very convinced the VG is the culprit. It can be some of the flavorings. Dark, sweet juices seem to caramelize in every nook and cranny.

The trick with the cartos is to never let it get dry.

I start with 20-22 drops before they go on the REO.

Then I vape them but give them the super duper smallest blind squonk you can every 5-8 hits just like you would an atty.
(only a much smaller squonk) it works great and you will soon realize the best hits are right after the squonk.
So much so that I give an even smaller super duper tiny blind squonk every 2-3 hits off a carto.

Description:
Super duper tiny blind squonk:

While drawing but not firing the mod (ya you know this part) just touch the bottle ever so slightly.
You will swear nothing could possibly come of it, but it does.
You want to just bump the bottle hard enough to send a few bubbles of juice into the tube.

Do that every few hits off a carto and it will stay wet forever and each hit will be the best it can be.
And you cartos will last longer as well.

Well I'm a huge carto (boge) fan I never prefill them since its unnecessary IMHO to do so I just 1 on do a couple squonks without firing wait couple minutes and off to the races blind squonking about every 2-3 hits in the beginning then every 3-5 after an hourish Just my:2c:

Well you have the important part right .... squonking often.
I see some people going 30 or 40 hits then giving a big squonk. No thanks.

I just found that pre-filling them works a touch better for me. Not needed, but for the 60 seconds it takes me, well worth it.

To be honest, the carts were good, but I was more interested in trying out the 357 at the time. After a night to dry out from the steam clean, my HH357 has been going strong like new all day today. Perhaps I gunked it up the first day learning the right squonk. Ive been using Johnson Creek VG Tennessee Cured. I love the flavor with the 357. Its not very thick and its pretty light in color..if only I could get a gallon of it..

Ok new Issue now....last week I tried one of my 2.0 HH357s. First day I was in love. I enjoyed the slightly cooler vape vs the 1.5 HH357. Flavor seemed more intense also.

The next morning, it tasted like someone took a dump in my atty. It still fired just fine, but tasted like crap. I tried cleaning it out, nothing, no change still tastes like crap. I threw old trusty 1.5 HH357 back on to test and great flavor was back...

I tried cleaning again and still bad taste. Vapor is still there.

Is this thing "dead"?

What can I try now?

i really recommend the vapage fusion attys...

i use a 2.2ohm and a 2.5ohm at 5v (sometimes even at 6v) - they last for days and days (haven't cleant them yet)...

Days & Days ???

I put 5 X 1.5ohm HH-357's on 5 different Reo Mods 8 months ago, 4 of those Attys are still running like there new :) 1 died at 7 months and it was my fault in a way but it was ready to go I think, those other 4 are still going. The 1.5ohm I like the best out of all of them. The other good Atty I like is the I06 it's another good one that last and last.

I dont bath mine to often but when I do I rinse with hot water first , blow it out, then run vodka or PGA though it for a while then blow that out. shake it out hit it with a hair dryer very lightly then do just a very small dry burn till I see it glow orange and stop, to get the extra gunk off the coil, not a full dry burn just until I see that coil go orange and stop, I know that's not recommended but I only do it once the Atty is really really gunked up, and it works for me to get some of that gunk off. All in all these are super Atty's in my opinion, best on the market, and that dam 1.5ohm has the best flavor of any Atty out there, Hanna does a super Job making these.

I had no luck with the HH's myself. Too hard to keep the "right" amount of juice in the ones I tried without getting a slurp of juice pretty often. (The ones I tried were the original short barreled versions).

Now the io6's on the other hand, have been like a dream. I have not popped a single one. I still have the first beta io6 in 1.8Ω on a reo and it is still running better than my previous favorite "type" of 306's did. (The date I received the io6 that I am reffering to was in October of last year. Yep, that is 6 months and it still works fine. Only thing I have ever done besides the occassional soak in everclear for 24hrs is a steam cleaning... YMMV, but for my money the io6's are the best investment. :2c:

I think I may have discovered my issue with squonking. I tend to squonk when flavor drops off or changes. Problem is I can never seem to get more than 1 perfect vape at a time. For every 1 perfect vape Ill probably have 2 harsh drags since I squonked too lightly followed by 4-6 flooded vapes because by now Ive squonked too much chasing that 1 perfect vape again. Sometime during trying to vape through the flood, Ill get ONE amazing astounding vape, then the cycle starts over. I try for another perfect vape, but it ends up drying up....

Ive tried many different squonking techniques/pressures. Im not gonna keep doing the same thing if it doesnt work, but no matter what, I still have the same cycle of issues.

Do I just need to practice MORE? Is the HH357 really temperamental? Or a combo of both?

I have been able at rare times to get a good vape right after a squonk, never consistently.
