How did you short it out? If you don't mind me asking....:)

The coil that I had built was reading A LOT less than what that battery could handle (see following explanation)

Looks like you pushed it past it's amp limit. If a little is good more is better, right. I'm glad to see that the spring failed rather than the battery. Valuable lesson there.

So, built a great coil on my Atomic and apparently one of the screws came undone right before I hit the button and POW. So... The battery was fine, but I decided to get rid of it anyway, just in case.

Once I put it back on my meter, it was clocking at a 0.09...

MASSIVE CLOUDZ!

Edit: so i tighten the screws and it's now at an even 1.1.

How can I make sure those screws don't go anywhere in the future?

I don't know but I'm always having to tighten them too. The little hex screws seem to stay put better than the the P heads though. I've always hoped that someone would come up with a screwless wire capture system for attys.

Dang, glad you're OK and had a spare on hand. Not sure what the limit is, I'm running a dual .4 right now which is fine for the battery but not sure about the Reo. I try to stick right at around .5 with most of my dual coil builds but that one came in a tad low.

Not sure what to do about those screws, I've heard some RDAs have that problem but none of mine do so far (knock on wood). I have one of Rob's new Atomics coming to me, I'll make sure to double check their tightened down on that for sure.

You know what we need is little buttons with eyelets kinda like the ones that are on drawstrings for hoodies and pj pants. Just push down, slide your coil legs in and release!

Glad you're OK!

I can't help with the screws. I can say that I always leave my coil legs about 2 mm longer than required and then bend what's hanging out past the post up. That way if a screw gets loose the coil can only move closer to the post, not further away and touch the cap.

Don't know if this would have helped in your case, but thought I would toss it at ya :)

There is an rda that features pins you must push down and then insert the wire then release to hold them in. I just watched the video two days ago but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called.

How does a screw backing itself out cause a short? Any time this has happened to me, it just translates into an anemic vape since the coil leg is making little or no contact with the post.

Yeah this happened with my atomic recently parallel coil build and I basically got a nasty burnt hits

I wish I could answer that question.

I know that after the short, I grabbed the atty and threw it on my meter (capless) and it was clocking <.1.

I tighten up the screws (which were extremely loose) and that made it a 1.1 again.

I can only assume the atomic has a smaller chamber then the rda your used to. Smaller chamber means less clearance for the screws and coils
