When I recently purchased 2015 Woodvils for myself and my wife, I *thought* I was being smart by getting extra springs for them ("just in case", even though I've never melted one).

However, the best laid plans and all being what they are, last week my wife's began to be SUPER easy to fire (VERY little resistance to the fire button), and upon close inspection, I found that the positive contact was cracked.

How that came to be I have no idea, but it was out of service for nearly a week waiting for a replacement. Luckily, I got her a backup Woodvil at the same time as the original purchase, so all was well.

Replacement was easy enough, although fitting my big hands in there to fiddle with tiny parts isn't my idea of fun times, in the end, the fix went well.

And yes, I ordered FOUR replacement contacts, not just one, so with spare springs AND contacts, I feel I can relax now.

Thought all you new 2015 Woodvil owners should be aware the spring isn't the only component that can fail, so consider your needs and resources.

Can't get a heavy duty contact for the woodvil?

Yeah the one difference between the new wood and metal reos is the fact that the spring cushions the button press and on the Woodvil your pressing against the hard center post.. no spring for soften the press.

So a button masher prob would snap that eventually.

Sure you could if you don't mind the extra force needed to make contact . I have thousands of them

Good tip AP.

Like with most things I acquire, when I bought all of my vape gear I also bought spares for it up front, in some cases lots of spares that were never used before I stopped using the gear. So all my Reos have spares. A tribute to them, the only spares I remember using in a year of use has been bottles, tubes and o-rings. And not very many of them because I dedicate jooses to each Reo, have a few Reos to handle that so do not change to another in any of them very often.

There you have it ap! Grab her a heavy duty contact.

Or one could swap out the batteries more often before they start feeling the need to push the button harder for it to fire better.

Have her watch the contact move in when she presses the button in with the door off so she can see she don't need to press it so hard.

LOL - I had to do that. Was having intermittent firing and kept spinning the button; opening up and watching it make contact; adjusting the 510; and wondering WHAT THE HECK was going on.

Figerred it out finally -
SO...here's a tip: try not to put a coating of Howard's wax on your contact point.

Hahaha.. yeah that could happen easily.

That's why I use a paper towel and running alcohol to clean the contacts after oiling the inside. Wet a towel and stick it between the contact and button switch and press the fire button squishing the paper towel and pull to wipe it clean.. do that a couple of times.

I also form a loop with the towel wet with alcohol and loop it around the center post while the tube is removed (after oiling) and rotate the around the post to clean any oil off.

Then just take a qtip dipped in the same rubbing alcohol and wipe clean the possitive contact and spring.

I can't blame her, she's well schooled in avoiding button mashing. It's possible I did it when swapping out the original brass fire button, or maybe something else, but she knows to avoid mashing. I've checked her "backup" woodvil, and it shows no signs of damage, nor do either of mine, so, at this point, it's an unresolved anomaly. But I'm glad I have 3 spares, since, like the springs, once you have backups, they won't be needed :)

True that.. I made sure to have a spare contact and spring in the cart before the woodvil launch hehe.

I bought an extra spring. Dang it. I guess before long I will have to order more parts. I am afraid to look at Rob's site though. One of the Woodvils may jump into my cart...lol. I don't have PP anymore, so I will have to see what other methods of payment he takes.

Well since nobody said nothing, I went to look. All I see is PP for payment. While there I couldn't help but look at the Woodvils you know. Curiosity killed the cat and all. I saw two for sure that were there that caught my eye. I already have a 2015 Woodvil, and am lucky to have it. I do need more parts though for it. I am trying to decide what parts I must have. I need extra bottles too. All those pretty Woodvils just sitting there. I do not NEED another one. I keep telling myself that. HAHA.

kkay59, I certainly understand the risks of visiting that site.....those Woodvils....yum. Actually, Rob takes credit cards and not Paypal anymore.

Good deal, thank you. I closed my PP account after they started the talk about the new TOS. I couldn't agree with it, and closed my account. Maybe Rob will say which major cards he takes.
Visa and master card . I still use Paypal if one wanted I can send a invoice through Paypal . I no longer have it tied to my site . Paypal had a problem with me selling atomizers

This is excellent advise about having plenty of spare parts. I always try and keep a good stock. Although I completely agree that with the Reo you seldom if ever need them. Another reason I keep stocked up is because of USPS! Rob ships very quickly, but USPS tends to miss send everything! I'd hate to need a part and have to deal with that.
