I've started cutting my nic level from 12 to 6 recently. I am still vaping 12 of GCD every day in my nautilus but 6 of Virus in the Reo. I was in the mood for some refresh so I loaded it up in a Kanger Aerotank. First hit I got dizzy. This has never happened before! I waited a few minutes for the feeling to pass and tried again. Same dizzy feeling. I emptied the tank and cut it with NZ and it's much better. What the heck?? Why is GCD fine and Refresh isn't? It makes me sad as I have a lot of 12 mg juice. Looks like I need to trade or order more NZ.

Is it a situation where you're usually vaping the 12mg during the day and/or you're not vaping as often?
Versus right now you've all nic'ed up so the 12 is hitting you hard?

Or you just switched from 12 to 12 and felt this?

(I tried to vape 12 during the day and 6 at night for awhile...but when I started vaping the 6 the 12 almost immediately became to strong for me, even during the day when I don't vape near as often.)

How long have you had both? I have been floating the thought that over time the nic fades as my GCD is steeped 4-6 months and I vape that all the time in 6mg but as I get 6mg juice fresh from the lab it slaps me around hard...

Nicotine does fade after awhile but nowhere near high levels, unless you've had the bottle open all this time. :)
I've read somewhere that after 1 year about 20% of the nicotine has faded. Not entierly sure if it was 1 year or 2. I'll have to try find the source again.

The GCD I'm vaping was decanted from a 500ml bottle so got exposed to a lot of air as a result so I'll see when I start hitting the 50ml bottles straight from the lab. :thumb:

I'm sorry if I'm derailing this thread but I have some questions... When I realize that most of you guys have cut your nicotine levels significantly it makes me wonder... why? Are you trying to wean yourselves off nicotine?

I started at 24mg. A few years ago I accidentally ordered some 18mg and didn't notice a difference so I've stayed at 18 ever since. I'm also very consistent, vaping 3ml to 4ml a day. That hasn't changed either.

Please correct me if I'm wrong - here is the way I look at it...

Nicotine is a very short acting substance. It attaches to the nicotine receptor in the brain and lasts roughly 15 minutes. The nicotine we get from vaping is absorbed through the mucous membranes in the mouth and sinus cavities, very little from the lungs. We only absorb a percentage of the nicotine from vapor - much less than a cigarette.

If I lower my nicotine level - won't that cause me to vape more and 3ml a day might jump significantly? I have read here that some people can vape 30ml in a week... 6mg , 8mg... isn't doing that roughly the same as consuming less higher nic liquid?

It seems as if there aren't many 18mg vapers here... It's making me curious :)

I started at 12 and stayed there until I got my reos. The 12 just hits too hard out of a RM2. It is still quite nice out of the PTs though.

I cut it for two reasons:

1) I chain vape like a lunatic

and

2) Less dependency on the outcome of the FDA crap shoot. I will NEVER go back to smokes so if I need to I will vape unflavored VG & PG.

I cut down because I don't like the peppery taste of nicotine - and 12mg is just too much throat hit for my personal taste. I'm sure I vape a little bit more than I would if I vaped higher nic liquid, but I enjoy it more.

I do not like throat hit - period - I did notice early on that some eliquid that was supposed to be a "flavor" was harsh and I did chalk that up to the higher nic content.

Maybe I'll do an experiment and throw a bottle of 12mg into my next order just to see if I notice a difference. If I notice better or purer flavor that would be a reason for me to bump down :)

I like flavor and vapor now. Throat hit and nicotine were really not a requirement for me anymore after being off cigarettes for a year. I sort of tricked myself along the way in to craving the flavor and ritual. I like strong fruity flavors with weak throat hit - nothing like a cigarette as remember them to be. Still, I've found I usually quit vaping all together once I get to 3mg or 0mg of nicotine - no taste. I usually try new flavors at 11-12mg and then dial it back to the lowest possible nicotine that still tastes "right". Gravity is new to me and I'm at 12mg, so my next order will be for 12mg and 6mg to mix 9mg and try 6mg. In the end, I'll have a taste and nicotine I like.

Until the incident with the Refresh this week I can go back and forth between 12 and 6 without noticing a difference. When I started vaping 6 in the Reo I also had a tank of 18 on a regulated device. While the nic level didn't bother me I did start to notice an overwhelming peppery taste I did not care for. It didn't exactly compliment the Horchata flavored juice. I would like to work down to 3 mg or even NZ eventually. I am surprised how fast I'm dropping my nic levels. It was a goal to do so but not one I expected to start on so soon.

I think you hit it Remie - it just tastes better. Slightly higher consumption (and overall lower nicotine intake) is worth it.

I was using 2.4 in pre-filled cartridges when I first began in earnest late January. By late February, I was using 1.8mg and some 1.2, March I was ordering a mix of 1.0, 1.2 & 1.8, and it was at that time I had to change from PG to VG.
By mid April I started adding the 0.8 and 0.6 options to orders. They all then became 0.6 or thereabouts by May.
I didn't notice any difference in flavour or usage ....until after I changed to all 0.6mg. Now, if I happen to try a 1.2mg I have to either dilute it with Zero or bin it - it's just too harsh. I am using more though.

I must say that when I started using mini PT2's and Unitank minis with MVP2's I could virtually see the liquid going down faster, so more powerful/efficient equipment uses it up faster too.

Now I'm in the process of seeing if I can go lower than 0.6mg. Odd times this past week, I've used all Zero or a 50/50 mix with 0.6, sometimes just 0.6mg. So far, I'm not noticing a difference so far.
I'm using a mix that's somewhere around 0.4mg at the moment (a mild custard at 0.6 with Zero GCD)

My goal of getting to zero is multi faceted. I started at 18, dropped to 12 quickly, now hitting 6 and will start ordering NZ to mix with my higher nic leftovers soon. I don't want to be dependent on it (or anything else) particularly with the FDA looming. I chase flavor, not throat hits and found in my Reo, I can't do 18 or some 12's without coughing. Nicotine can be HARSH!

I also have genetic high blood pressure that started in my early 30's. Nicotine causes blood vessels to constrict which causes BP to rise. Although vaping is so much better for cardiovascular issues or HBP than smoking, the issue of constriction remains. I don't know if I'll give up vaping one day or not but I know I'll give up nicotine for that reason alone.

Everyone is different. That's just my personal journey. :)

I'm not saying you are wrong here but I have found very few actual legitimate studies testing nicotine, just that, as of yet. It's coming though. And then you have how much nicotine you and all of us actually take in using vaping, which is less than the gum and the patch. Either way I think you are doing right by you and in the end that is all that matters. :thumb:

For me I have chronic low blood pressure, so much so that now that I've quit smoking my "normal" is 85 over 42...my doc was  when she saw that!!
