Hi Folks
Brand new Reo LP owner here.
I've purchased it due to it's obvious quality and
(rabid) fan base :p

So I really like rda's, my incentive for the Reo is an rda
that I don't have to be dripping all the time.
Now the obviously dumb part.. I got a nice RM6 with my Reo
and threw my favorite rda build in there.. dual 24 AWG Kanthal
at ~ 5 turns to give me my standard 2.5 ohm build.
So.. I fire it up, hissing and sparking at the button, no action at the
atty and the nice gold spring at the base basically turns blue and
collapses in fright
I presume this is too low a build for the Reo (?!)
What can/should I be using to maximize vapor and flavour
without a meltdown? I see people talking of ~ 1 ohm but
I was hoping to be able to be closer to my RDA-type build !!
Cheers!

BTW the aforementioned build is the bomb in my home-made "Reo"
(Dual 18650, Mosfet switch, 6ml bottle, Fat Daddy 510 with a modified MutationX V2 atty)
So I was kinda hoping for similar performance..

And yea that was supposed to read .25 ohms not 2.5 ohms.. thanks dbrandt01

Congrats - the collapsing spring safety feature worked.

Yep - prolly a short. .25ohms will fire fine on a reo, but since you like a lower resistance build, get some deoxit gold and apply it to the firing pin, spring and battery terminals to help prevent arc'ing and oxidation on the contacts.

I'm assuming you're using batteries rated for 20 amps or more.

Thanks yes I have a big jug of Noalox and my purple efest 2500 batteries (35A peak) work fine in all my mods.

Those purple efest are not really 35 amp batteries so be careful please.

Cool. If you reo has the gold contacts (which it will if it's new, and you should get if they're the older contacts), you might want to consider investing in some deoxit. It's much less messy to work with and bonds to the gold, so lasts longer (I find).

Also, not to sound like a nanny (and you should be fine), but I believe those bats are actually rated for 20 amps continuous (35 amps pulse).

Thanks Papa yea exactly, they're 20A not 35A but at .25 ohm and a full battery I'm running around 16A
Tight I know, but having a hard time finding a good battery.
The VCT5 (if you can even find them which I can't) are mostly knock-offs these days too.
Really open to any suggestions for a GOOD IMR 18650 battery!
Anyone?

AW 1600 is 24 amp battery and comes recommended by rob himself.

ETA: Also the Samsung 25r and LG HE2 are both great 20amp batteries. Also authentic Sony vtc4 are still not hard to find.

AW bats are a favourite of reonauts. The 1600 mah version has a C rating of 15, so good to 24 amps.

You can get them from Dash Vapes in Canada.

It doesn't seem to like my modified MutationX, I have to keep backing out the set screw in the 510 as screwing in the atty also screws in this adjuster.
This is a brand new Reo, I thought that a reverse-threaded set screw was now being used to prevent this.

If your 510 height adjustment pin screws in clockwise you might need to return the mod to get the left-hand thread adjustment screw. A few very early ones were right hand thread and were recalled. Just wondering if when you are screwing your atty in it is bottoming out in the 510 and going short circuit. You could test that by measuring the resistance across the atty posts with the atty screwed into the mod. But I'm a bit late to the party, you might have already checked this...

Possibly.. at any rate I suspect that I need to temper my subohm expectations a bit, I just rebuilt my rm6 with a dual 28AWG .95 ohm build
and it's .. ok. Do have to twiddle the adjustment screw to get a good contact. I'd rather not return it, I'll probably just live with it.
Certainly not RDA caliber vapor-wise (I'm not a cloud chaser but my .2 to .3 ohm builds on a copper nemesis kinda spoiled me.)
I still get better vapor and flavor from my Kayfuns which does actually surprise me though.
Cheers!
