:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I had to vent I'm so upset!! Last week one of my cartomizers melted ( I guess?? ) into my battery. I ordered another one from a different site however it didn't come before the SAME thing happened to my second battery. I was so upset about it I cried and had to resort to analogs for the rest of the day ( although I smoked very little )

The battery I ordered after the first one broke is here now and I'm vaping just fine now with no craving for analogs but I'm still rattled by it and scared to death this might happen again. I'm also left with only one battery to last me until I can order another one with my next pay check. >_<

Has anyone had this happen? What did you do to prevent it?

I contacted Freedom Smokes USA ( where I got the cartomizers from ) and Liberty Flights ( where I got the batteries from ) and Freedom Smokes is telling me the battery fired in my pocket but I was using a protector? Has this happened to anyone while using a protector? Liberty Flights told me that they see cartomizers go bad all the time - has anyone else had bad experiences with cartomizers?

Ugghhh this sucks!!

Was it a plastic cartomizer, and if it was couldnt you take some kind of object and scrape away the melted stuff and get it out of the threads etc? If it was metal and melted, well thats just frightening.

Ok just took a closer look at your pic's and saw that the base of the carto looks to still be 'stuck' in the battery threads. I had something similar happen to me ...with out the whole melting part. Try taking a flat head screw driver and 'turning' the base of the carto to see if you cant get it out..OR super glue a handle onto the stuck part. Piece of a stick, anything really as long as its not larger then the stuck piece, then when the super glue dries (dont use a lot or you will get super glue down in the battery threads) you can try turning it to unscrew the cartomizer bottom.

Enlarged your pic w/ Photoshop. It looks like you may be able to salvage battery if you can find a way to unscrew the base of the carto from the battery. Go luck! Before you throw them away, mail them to me and I'll try to salvage them. PM me if you want my address. I'm in NC.

This. It looks to me like your button protectors weren't working the way they're supposed to. Those Joye 510 cartos are definitely prone to melting if the buttons are held down too long. It has happened to both my Wife and I on different occasions. It also happens with the Joye eGo cartos (big honkin' cigar cartos).

Based on what I see in the pic - get yourself a set of needle nose pliers and unscrew the rest of the carto from the batteries. I'd be very surprised if those batteries are no longer usable.

Also, don't screw them on too tight. The plastic is prone to twisting off the connector. Just another reason I've moved back to the tried and true Boge 2.0Ω cartos.

I appreciate everyone's help with this. I've tried to get the rest of the carto out but it's not moving at all. I'm sending them back to Liberty Flights to have them look it over. I guess I need to find out whether it was the batteries or the carts that were faulty before I can ask either to send me a replacement. I hope they do because that's 2 batteries gone that should have still had a lot of life in them. :'( I can't afford to order any more at the moment so I only have 1 and I'm a heavy vaper >_<

That pic helped me have a reasonable opinion. It appears you aren't using manual batteries. If you aren't you should be. The auto-batts will most likely lead to more problems in the future. I have already experienced an auto-batt sticking in the on position while I was driving.

I FOUND OUT WHAT WENT WRONG!!!

This morning the same thing happened again to my only working battery left. I almost threw a tantrum but instead paid close attention to the cartomizer and discovered that the carto did not melt into the top of the battery - the metal part of the carto had separated from the plastic and became stuck to the battery. So I grabbed some pliers and forcefully unscrewed it from the battery and so far all three of my batteries are working okay.

I'm going to use BOGE cartos from now on and see how those go. WOW this has been so stressful! Not what I need right after quitting analogs >_<

That's great...

Avoid frustration again by choosing an e-cig and staying with it even though it isn't "perfect" :)

Makes me glad my first purchase were boge cartos. Never had an issue in the 2 weeks I've used them (other than leaving my big bottle of juice at home and having to use leftover other flavors that made it taste funny all mixed up). Sounds like the boge is the way to go though :)

Don't get me wrong - the Joyes aren't terrible - and I think they actually taste better. But they are flimsy, relatively finicky to fill, and prone to issues such as these. I told my Wife I won't be buying them again (we still have about 10 left) and she only reluctantly agreed once she gave the 2.0Ω Boges a shot.

I'll also be giving the Dual Coils a try next week.

I don't like to carry my eGo in anything but my shirt pocket. I had the same thing happen to me when the button got pressed down while in my pant pocket.

I'm driving along thinking, "What's that smell?" The about a second later I think, "Why is my leg burning?".

Anyway, what I learned was to get in the habit of slightly unscrewing the carto before you put it in your pocket or bag. If the carto isn't screwed in tight, the battery button can get pressed down and Nothing happens.
