So true - I've had it two days, and I keep finding myself running my thumb over that part.
My only complaint with the soft ones are that they don't last as long. They break down and get limp after a while and if you hold them in your teeth(...I know they weren't designed for it but that's what I do...)they develop small holes in them.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a soft tip till I got my 801 kit from MyVaporStore. There were some soft tips with it. This is my 3rd 801 kit. Prev were from PS, well actually that was a 4072, and my kit from Smilin. I love the soft tips. Much more comfortable in the mouth.

I definitely have a preference to the hard plastic on my penstyle. The soft task funky and kind of pinch closed if I try to hold it with my teeth anyway. Also I've found that the soft tips don't stay in the atomizer tube as well. I tend to carry my smoke in my pocket and the rubber one will come off sometimes leaving the cartridge itself in the tube so which I then have to extract and hope I can find the tip and it's not laying on the ground at some random place I walked by.
i have the soft tip 801's, and assumed it was because it was a true 801, and not the RN series. i was considering trying a "true" 901 assuming they would have the same type of tips. i mostly like the way they "cork" in and fit real snug so they dont leak. that is my biggest complaint about my 4075.
Hmm, part of that whole analog ciggy thing to me was chomping down on the filter or the bare end to get a little more flavor at the end of the burn.
What would be cool is a malleable cart exterior that has some nic juice impregnated in it.
Would go great in a cigar type also.

I didn’t like the soft tip 801 I got from diet smokers the carts get stuck in the cap when I pulled them out the tip comes off and I have to use a pair of pliers to get them out
And at first I got a plastic taste from them but it went away after using them for awhile

If this reply bothers anyone, delete it, but I'm not really a supplier yet. I am working on bringing to market the exact cigarette you have described - I haven't found such a thing in an e-gar yet, but the cigarette has an internal cartridge inside a "malleable cart exterior." I had been deciding on the exact model and this poll is what pushed me over the edge to it.
One of the reasons I hated my 801 penstyle was because of the soft tips. When I got a 901 kit, that came with hard mouthpieces and those were perfect. I wish there was style like that for 510 (although 510 mouthpiece is not soft, it is not tapered the way 901 is).
I've only been vaping (constantly...worse than a chain smoker...I LOVE it) for about 3 weeks now and have placed 5 orders through different companies. One of the companies I ordered juice through had really cheap empty carts so I ordered a pack of 5 just to see if they'd fit in my pen-style (the guy I work with had problems with pen-style carts not fitting well and he lost a lot of vape). Anyway, it turned out they are the soft plastic and I love absolutely them. It may just be that I'm so used to the hard plastic and the soft ones are a little different but I, too, like to bite down and all of my hard plastic ones are covered in teeth marks.

Oh, and I didn't read the middle pages of this thread but my carts look almost identical. If no one has posted a picture yet, I certainly could for the person who requested a picture.
I don't like the soft tips specially the ones that came with the minipipe...how are you supposed to hold the pipe with your mouth with a soft tip? I like to bite down on the tips...can't really do that with the soft tips.
LOL...sometimes when I bite down, it feels like my cig is going to fall down but I let up on my bite and it's fine. I think my carts may not be as soft or my cig may not be as heavy, though, because even when I bite completely down and try to make my cig fall, it doesn't (it just feels like it's going to). (LOL - after sitting here and biting down over and over, I'm afraid the hole is closing up (whoopsie)).
One of the purest pleasures I get out of my hard-tip 510 carts is the ability to stand the little sucker up while I top it off. With my 901 and 801 carts I needed both hands to refill them. Totally awkward trying not to miss the tiny openings with drops of ejuice at times.
