Trying to figure out the rig or flavor you like before you have tried anything is pointless. It would be like trying to figure out if you like a certain type of food based on the packaging. Cartridges, atomizers, driptips, wich is the best way? Might as well flip a coin. What flavor is the best? Ha! Might as well ask what food or beer is the best. There is a reason why there are hundreds if not thousands of flavors out there. Also a reason why there is PG and VG based liquids and every combination in between. What works for me, probably won't work for you. I started with a standard eGo with cartridges. I didn't like refilling the darn cartridges all the time and purchased 2 different kind of cartomizers. After a few days I figured out I don't like the cartomizers. I'm back on the cartridges and want to try the drip tips. To me the most difficult thing is finding that perfect juice/e-liquid. I'm still searching for it. I have 4 or 5 juices I really enjoy but, I havn't found one that can get me through the day without mixing or switching. I plan on finding it eventually. I have decided to stick to a 70vg 30pg split. I think thats what works for me best. It took me a few weeks of going from one extreme to another. 100%pg (thoat hurts after a couple pulls). 100%VG (so thick that it just doesn't work well unless you drip it.) So, as you can see I'm still trying to figure it out after a couple of weeks of having the tools. Its an experiment, and every experiment will be different for each individual. Sorry for the rant, I drinking decaf coffee with Irish creme while vaping. Its a really nice combo. :p

Welcome to the forum, isn't is great to have so many options regarding flavors compared to analogs? :)
You're quite correct that finding your personal mix, flavor and nicotine strength is pretty much trial and error. But if you think about it, that's the reason there's a Mickey D's, B-King, Sonic, Fatburger, Fuddruckers......etc, everyone's tastes are different. I've tried some recommended flavors and mixes,
and some :nah: and some :thumb:
Unfortunatly there's no way to predice anyone tastes, I never smoked menthol analogs in 35+ years but it is one of my go to vaping flavors. Just plain menthol, no tabacco or anything else mixed in?????
I can't explain it to myself!!

My trial and error flavors tried so far: Cuban Cigar, Slo Cure, Alabama Sweet, Marly, Kamel, Tennessee Cure, Menthol, Rum, Root Beer, Coffee, Black Coffee, Anise, Licorice, Spearmint, Cinnamon, Cinnamon Buns, Wyatt Earp, Cream Soda, Dubble-Mint(DIY), Pink Champange(DIY), Peanut Butter(DIY), Wintergreen, Key Lime Freeze, Cinnamon Stick, American Spirit, Almond, Brandy, Carmel, Ginger, Jager Bomb and my least favorite "pre-filled cart"

Experimentation and being able to customize my own vaping experience has to be one of my favorite reasons to vape! I never thought I'd give up using cartridges, but here I am, vaping EC2 cartos and loving it! I've tried out lots of flavors. Some I've really loved like Cafe Mocha, Kahlua, Chocolate Mint, Peach (I could vape a Peach all day!) and Waffle, just to name a few. I've also absolutely hated a few like Cherry, plain Coffee and straight unblended tobaccos.

What you posted isn't a rant so much as a basic truth to vaping and how individual the experience is for all of us. Sure, there are others who might like the same flavors, vendors and configurations, but even then the experience isn't exactly the same.

BTW, coffee with Irish Cream = heavenly. But, I'll take my coffee fully leaded, thank you! :)

Finding the right hardware was relatively easy compared to finding a few juices that I liked. In fact, after almost 6 months, I'm still trying new juices, and even mixing my own, in hopes of finding that particular juice that I can vape all day without wanting to switch. Good luck to you on your quest.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to ever find that one juice that I could vape all day without wanting to switch. There are just too many that I really like right now and being able to switch flavors on the fly is suiting me just fine. Mixing my own isn't helping either, but it sure as hell is fun!

You and me both, i've only been vaping for 5 weeks and have tried about 15 flavors with no luck and i have another 25 flavors in transit. Hopefully i will find "THE" one ................. eventually. This is a very expensive hobby when first starting out, it's going to take me 6 months until i break even with the cost of analogs :(

If you have a juice that you don't really care for, let it steep for a couple of weeks. The flavor just might surprise you. 90 percent of the battle is finding that perfect flavor. I DIY my juices but also buy some that I can't mimic.

For dripping, try a Cisco LR306 atomizer and a drip tip to fit it. They are awesome. You'll be surprised at how well they vape over a standard atty. Even a Joye LR510 is excellent.

Exactly. Some juices sound good but you are thinking with the "eating" part of your brain. lol

I have a huge juice stash that will probably never get vaped because it just doesn't taste right not in food form. I have pretty much gone back to tobacco/ tobacco variant flavors.

I have been vaping for about 2 months now (I think). I have spent alot of money so far, and haven't given up analogs yet. I have gotten to where I think I'm about there. I know I love the kr808d-1 manual batteries, I have found the ce cartomizers and love them (ordered 100 from china). I have found 2 juices that I like, but still not the perfect one. I just ordered 2 bottles of juice from tasty vapor to try the pg/vg mix (haven't tried that yet). I have gone from over 2 packs of analogs a day to less than 1 and now that I'm stocked on cartos, batteries and know at least 2 juices I really like, my plan is to give up analogs completely by the first. I can honestly say I feel so much better since I cut my analog intake to less than half of what I was smoking. I can't wait to see how much better I feel when I give them up completely.

Welcome to the life :vapor:
I think its a journey everyone had to take, finding the right juice anyhow, reading many forum posts kept me from buying into the Blue Cig and going the 510 / Ego route. The Juice part is the hard part. I have made the jump to DIY, I have juices from many vendors but realized that I can make almost all of the American juices myself. I don't like most of the fruity, sugar, cake flavors but stick mainly to "Tobacco" flavors. I know that given all the different advice posted on the forums, you can make a good decision on hardware, the juice is a personal journey that usually involves many bad juice trips. ;-)

Have fun and don't get discouraged.

I'll co-sign on the "great observations" comments.

It is easy to think of it as trial and error, but that isn't the most beneficial way to think of it from a newbie's perspective.

Instead think of it as baby steps. You'll eventually find your sweet spot, but chances are it just won't be right away. So don't get overwhelmed by dripping vs dipping, vs ZFM, vs Fluval, vs cartos...

You get the idea. We all started somewhere. Find what is going to be comfortable for you. After that then worry about the rest when you have a better idea of what your experience will feel like, and what needs to be changed to meet your satisfaction.
