In preparation i went to get mine ready. I definitely see why Rob snaps it off.
You have to be pretty coordinated to unscrew it.
I'm not coordinated enough to hold and put pressure on a screwdriver with the thumb and forefinger of my left hand while turning the nipple with a pair of pliers.
I screwed with it for about 15 minutes before finally saying F it and snapped it off. Took less than 10 seconds

Just curious, I got my REO before the upgrade contact kit came out. What is the material of the firing pin? By "firing pin", I think it means the flexible metal spring that contacts the positive terminal of the battery.

It is. The firing pin was then gold plated. Its important to not file the new pins. It will take off the plating. Just use a qtip and alcohol. Or use a pencil eraser first then the alcohol. I believe the spring was also the same material.
