Hey everyone! I quit smoking analogs over 3 years ago cold turkey and I haven't looked back since! Recently I went and saw my brother during Christmas break from uni and he is super into vaping because it's what helped him quit smoking analogs. My brother ended up giving me a "KeCig K100+ mechanical mod and an IGO-W RBA for my main set up. I understand the concept of the ohm's laws, I have a multimeter to measure the resistance in the coils i build but I just feel like I'm getting no flavor from my set up... Currently I'm vaping Pun'kin tumble and Zombie Apocalypse from Alice in vapeland and it just tastes meh.. almost like nothing.

I guess what I'm asking is what kind of set up can i go for to get maximum flavor from the juices I'm buying.. I don't give a crap about huge clouds and what not.. I just want to taste the juices I'm paying for.

Thanks for any time and responses you guys can give me :).

I'm currently using 3mm ekowool as my wick and from how I understood everything that I read.. I made one coil, it measured to be 1.7 ohms and my meter has a resistance of .4 so that turned out to be a 1.3 ohm coil right? then I built one exactly the same so I ended up with 2.6/2 which is a 1.3 ohm dual coil set up? I think? I am in no way shape or form good at all this stuff haha... I just watched my brother and am trying to figure all of this out. All I really want is flavor from my vapes.

First Off- Hi and Welcome to ECF :)

Dual coil reduces resistance by half. In order to have 2.6 Ohms of resistance in a dual coil build - you need 2 5.2 Ohm Coils. Dual coils consist of two coils of the same resistance. They are wired in parallel so the total resistance is half the resistance of either coil.

Higher resistance than .65 or 1.3, 1.7 will definitely give some improvement to flavor (maybe build between 2.2-2.8). You may also find that you would prefer a different liquid.

I'm just throwing this out there. Are you happy with using an RDA in general, or do you want something that requires less tinker? If you don't care about the tinker with it, hobby aspect, I myself would recommend a simple carto in a a good carto tank. I'm just getting into RDA, and when I get it working right, it's pretty awesome. But My ibtankned and cartos are my go to, all day, devices. Many of us in the clan would say that the carto is as close as you can get to the flavor from a good working RDA.

Honestly I don't have time for the tinkering at this point in my life.. I wish I did but I'm taking 17 credits this semester and I'm swamped with assignments and the gym. I'd like to know what your all day device set up is exactly, I know what carto's are but I'm not familiar with what kind of mod you are running with it and what not. I'd just like to know what specific setup you are using so I have at least an idea of an option... because there are 100's of them out there and it's overwhelming.

Try a 1.7 ish ohm coil, 8 wraps of 30 gauge kanthal A1 on a 1/16" drill bit. Forget dual coils for the time being. Use a cotton wick from rolled cotton from CVS. Here's a vid to get you making your micro coil, its easy.

A fabulous member Baditude (and resident Guru :) ) has put together some amazing Blogs on cartotanks! (Great low/no fiddle all day set up) IBTanked is great. Cannot go wrong there, but these 2 blogs give you all the info and options you need :)

E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs

"A fabulous member Baditude..." helped me to understand that which I had no interest in knowing. Very cordial gent. If you get the chance ........ busy or not .......... learn to learn when the knowledge is available and given freely AND with only the best of intent.

It can be overwhelming, and there are as many opinions as options. Understand that there are going to be advantages and limitations to anything, and this is certainly the case here. But if I were to go back and do the last 5 months over, knowing what I know now, this is EXACTLY what I would get to start with.

IBTanked - Get Tanked With Us!
19mm, standard sized. I would get a box of cartos, standard resistence, with one punch. And I would get a refilling tool.

For a device, this would be it. (and for the record, this is a great price, and a great vendor. Have ordered from them many times.)
Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit - 101 Vape

It's small, vv/vw, can check ohms, has pass through, which can come in handy due to it's smaller battery capacity, and for me, has been really trouble free. I still use it regularly when I want something more inconspicuous. in fact, I'm vaping it right now, just because.

If you go the Carto route, the baditude blogs that were mentioned are the best place I could think to direct you for information on how to properly set them up, and get them working to their best.

So there it is. The first official "TheJakeBailey recommends" beginner setup for cost and performance, with little to no tinkering. ;)

Here is a picture of mine, exactly as described.

Awesome! Thank's so much everyone for all the responses. I'm going to check out those websites and I will probably order this set up today. I'm also going to look into the microcoils with cotton as well, once I have some free time.
