Somewhat new with battery questions

I was a smoker (I know the dirty word!) and I moved to vaping to help me quit and I have fallen in love with it. I started off with a kanger evod and I loved it until I didn't. I wanted to upgrade without moving to the full on units/mods? (Still not quite sure on the proper names and wording) My local vape store basically told me there are the tanks like I have been using but only better or the systems where I build and use the cotton (Again, don't even know what "the cotton" is) I went with what sounded like the least work and got an Aspire Atlantis tank and Aspire CF SUBQ battery. I am happy with that (at least for now) but I prefer to have two batteries just for convenience so I don't have to worry when one dies. So my question is (I know finally!) for the tank I have should I purchase the same battery or is there a different battery that would be better all around. I don't feel completely comfortable asking tons of questions at my vape store so I'm hoping I can get help here. Thanks!

First of all, Welcome to ECF!!!!!

The Atlantis will work with many mods (batteries unless mechanical). The only thing you need to be aware of is that the Atlantis was designed to be operated at 25W+ with its 0.5Ω coil. I might recommend the iStick 30W. It's a great battery that is capable of 30W and is perfect for traveling.

Also, you shouldn't be afraid of asking question at your B&M. As long is the staff is knowledgeable, it is their job to educate papers on the products they are buying. We will always be here though. :)

I agree with Cullin, the Istick 30W is a great mod to have. It is nice because it works great with the sub ohm tanks, but if you want to kick it back a notch, ouhave the freedom to do that too at lower wattage/voltage. It is also pass through charging so that means you can charge while ou vape, and you don't have to worry about carrying extra batteries around with you. It charges on a micro USB like an android phone. :)

Also, don't be afraid to ask your local vape shop questions. That is why they are there, to help you find what works best for you, and to give you all of the information you need to use it safely, and to fully enjoy the experience of vaping. I am sure they would be happy to help you love vaping as much as they do.

Thank you! Vaping has absolutely changed my life so I really appreciate all of your knowledge. I'm sure it's my insecurities of not knowing what I'm doing that's making me uncomfortable asking my multitude of questions in store. It doesn't take information or research to purchase a pack at circle k.

Both options sound great for me! Thank you so much!

Hehe welcome aboard! I recognize the confusion. Been there :D

"The cotton" that they are talking about is just that. Cotton used as wicking material to move liquids from your tank to your coil. Don't worry about such yet. It's stuff for people who like to build their own wicks and coils. Which is something you may or may not want to do at some point. No reason to jump in the deep end just yet. Once pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place - you will be in a better position to figure out if it's something you would like to try or not.

We sort of have this unwritten policy of "there are no stupid questions" around here. If you are uncomfortable asking "dumb questions" in a store - and believe you may not understand the answer anyway - we won't bite. Lots of people have been in the same situation. There are already a ton on info on this forum. Still - no problem asking and answering the same questions. It's hard to know what to look for when you don't know what to look for. I bet you are currently staring at a couple of "thingies" that produce vapor when you press a button. At some point, these thingies will turn into "atties" and "batteries" and "mods". No need to sweat it. You'll learn as you go. :)

Hope this didn't come out as too patronizing. :)

The iStick 30W or 50W would both be great choices with the Atlantis tank. I have both and like them both very much. It really comes down to the size. The 50W is considerably larger than the 30W, but the battery lasts about twice as long. While you are looking at the iStick, you may want to consider the Kanger Subtank Mini as well. It pairs nicely with the iSticks, and it has the advantage over the Atlantis that you can purchase either .5 Ohm, or 1.2 ohm coils for it (only .5 ohm coils are currently available for the Atlantis).

I have to agree with the above. My wife has two Istick30's and she loves them with the subtank Nanos. She prefers the 1.2 ohm coils as she wants a cooler vape and batteries last a little longer. If she's in the mood for a warmer vape, or the juice shes using tastes better, she'll toss in a .5ohm.

Just want to update you all... After thinking about all of your suggestions I decided to go with the iStick 50w and I absolutely love it! The battery lasts so much longer, the battery meter is so helpful and I love that I can charge and vape at the same time. I'm sure I'll be back soon with more questions. Thank you all again!

+ 1 with the poster above -- reading this thread (along with a couple others like it) have me strongly considering upgrading from my basic / starter-level V4L Vapor Zeus setup to an iStick 50w. To think I thought a 1300 mAh battery was freaking massive until I started frequenting ECF.

Great, informative thread. Cheers to all who've contributed.

When I started vaping I always thought that the "target" was to be able to get by the entire day without having to plug in to recharge and I could just plug in to recharge overnight. That's still the case, but with the iStick 50's battery life, I can easily go 5 days without having to recharge. I do notice that if you go by the battery level indicator, it seems to take a very long time for it to drop from full to 1/4. However, I have noticed that once it is at 1/4, it quickly drops from that point on until it hits the 10 percent set point at which the mod will automatically shut off.
