Hey everyone, so I know it's a bad idea to get batteries off of ebay, but this guy had really great reviews and I went ahead and got them, his ebay seller name is somuchtocell2012 and here are the pictures of my sony's. I compare them to others but cant really tell if they are real or fake, it'd just be nice to know. Any input would be appreciated. 20141208_180442.jpgreceived_10204325950263186.jpg20141208_180506.jpgreceived_10204325950743198.jpgreceived_10204325950983204.jpg

Give it some time, I'm sure someone with solid knowledge on spotting fakes will chime in.

Just today I received 3 VTC4s from Ultramist and they look pretty much identical to your pictures. In the meantime, check out this fairly comprehensive guide for VTC5s: How to spot a fake Sony VTC5 battery

Yeah I've compared to those photos many times, and they look legit. Another user purchased from the same vendor, and gave detail of what the vendor said to him, it seems legit, I just have no way of testing them. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo.../619913-sony-vtc5s-ebay-here-we-go-again.html

From your pictures, they would appear to be authentic, but that would only be my best guess. The top, bottom and seam...etc. look to be correct. Trying to judge from pictures and not in person, looking at the batteries close up is always going to be inexact.

It's unfortunate but the number of fakes, and possibly an outward appearance very good fake seems to be more and more common. Other than buying directly from Sony, or a known Sony Authorized Dealer there's no way to be 100% sure.

I'll pay a little extra to purchase from an established vendor with a good reputation. I figure a good 18650 will last for about 1 1/2 - 2 years, the difference in prices will cost me far less than a penny a day. Worth it for peace of mind.

The new batch of fakes are rewraps of Samsung 25R's. They look totally real except for one detail. The gap at the top of the body of the battery is larger on the fakes than the authentics. If you have some legit 25R's you can put them side by side to verify if they are in fact the rewraps. Look at this link to see what I mean. http://www. ecigssa. co.za/threads/new-counterfeit-vtc5-batteries.4228/

V-joe continues propping the ebay Sony VTC5.

I brought 4 two weeks ago (I know ) :
4X REPLACEMENT BATTERIES FOR SONY 18650 VTC5 HIGH DRAIN 2600 MAH 3.7 V VOLT 30A
US $39.97
biglobster

After 1st week of use, I felt these batts are not authentic. My LGDBH21865 (from FT) last significantly longer. Same mod, watts, atty/coil, and charger.

I have since recorded some actual numbers - joule recording from my Yihi SX mini.

2 brand new LGDBH21865 vs 2 "Sony VTC":
