[FONT=Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]Hello guys

i need your help and advice, I have been using this battery now for a few months on my sigelei-30w mod with a VHO Raiju Atomizer and have never had a problem, I am running a dual coil set up and running 1 ohm. Tonight I placed the mod and rda on its side for like 2 minutes and when I went to pick it up it was extremely hot to touch and when I opened the bottom cap it vented a lot of gas and the battery is now fried, this has never happened previously and now I am worried that the heat transfer from the Sony battery has fried the 30w chip

VTC4 / VTC5 batteries serve a specific function in that they allow a high continuous discharge (30A). However, these batteries have several drawbacks including limited availability and a high rate of counterfeits. Unless you are building your atomizers to a very low resistance the hassle of these batteries is not worth it. It's too easy to find yourself in the OP's position of thinking you're buying the safe battery only to find out that you've got a very unsafe counterfeit.

For a 30W regulated device like the OP is using the VTC batteries are not needed. You can readily purchase authentic AW batteries from an authorized reseller like RTD Vapor that are rated for 20A continuous discharge. There are other decent options besides the AW's - point is do your research and buy the battery that fits your need.

so to tbev's post the battery is completely incinerated it vented all the gas inside the tube that resulted in the tube getting really hot, when i opened the bottom cap a hole lot of chemical smoke came out and caused the screen to get a foggy mist that i can't get rid of as i can't get inside the unit

i don't understand how it happened as i only had it on its side for a few seconds and i dont even think the unit was on but even if it was i can't see why it blew up the way it did

.

Beside for HIS MOD, do you have any recommendations for batteries? I currently am running a K100 on .56ohm with some off-brand IMR 3.7v but I want to replace them right away but since hearing that the VTCs are commonly fake do you have a secure brand that you might prefer?

Sorry, but I can't seem to find FastTeck on my trusted source list

I'm pretty careful with batteries for vaping. I researched it before I bought a couple of VTC3's from them back before the shipping problems happened. To my knowledge no-one has ever received a fake or clone of anything from Fasttech when they specify 'authentic' in the description. I don't include them in my 'public' list of known good battery suppliers because if you miss the 'authentic' thing you will get a knock-off.

I agree this could not have happened from the mod being left on in that device using a good VTC5. IMO you either had a bad battery, or a short. I would try to use my DMM to check the continuity between the positive battery contact in the mod and the negative tube. If there is continuity there you've got a short and if you put another battery in it you'll vent that one too. I don't know if you could have a short that only happens when you power up the mod, but it is conceivable to me if there is a problem on the circuit board, but I would also think that would fry the board. Maybe someone who knows better can help out with this one.

As for batteries, 20 amps max is just fine for this application. I would get either LG HE2 or Samsung 25R. The VTC5 would give you a bit more run time, but IMO it's so little it's not worth worrying about.
