I have a single coil 0.6 ohm build on a sigelei 30W tube mod, running at 30W with a new Sony VTC4. After a couple of 3-4 second hits the battery starts to get warm, not hot but noticeably warm even through the mod tube. This setup is pulling about 8 amps which is well within the Sony's limits.
I'm relatively new to sub-ohm builds and I'm wondering if it's normal for the battery to get warm like this? I recently had an accident with a battery and I'm feeling cautious.

Hisonicbomb and welcome aboard!

I'm not even sub ohming and my battery gets very slightly warm sometimes when I'm vaping heavily.

Hope that helps and Happy Vaping!

You should be ok as long as your not exceeding your batteries Amp limit. With the numbers you gave me, that's about 7.07 amps. Your batteries a 30 amp limit. You should be well into the safe zone. If you ever question the limit, use ohms law formula to see exactly where your at. If you don't like math, there is a great app called Ohms Law that will do the calculations for you. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

I retested, and the majority of what I'm feeling appears to be heat being transferred into the tube by the hot RDA. When I quickly take out the battery it is barely warm at all. Unless the heat in the battery is so transient that its faded by the time I get it out. I suspect that I may have been a little over cautious, and if so my apologies if anyone feels like I may have wasted their time answering this thread.

Thanks
