I will soon be a newbie vaper. I've been going through this forum for a couple of days now. Deciding what would be best to start with, hoping not to make a mistake that will put me off of it. I've been smoking for over 20years. I've quit 3 or 4 times, the longest period being 6months. Stress from work has always drove me back.

I ended up ordering a 510 starter kit from Totally Wicked with a few flavored liquids as well. I had a few choices in mind but I was starting to get a little overwhelmed with all the info there is on these things. I believe if I waited much longer I would start second guessing myself out of trying it.

I'm going to ease off at going through many more threads for now until I get my kit and get my feet wet. All the mods and methods can get a bit much to take in without some experience to associate with it. My biggest fear, being a lazy ..., is that I'll feel it's more of a hassle to vape than to just light up. But I'll give it the boy scout try and see how it goes!

Congradulations! That's wonderful, taking a step like that is a start in the right direction. When I quit I was between 3-5 packs a day, and had been smoking for 25+ years, these things are absolutely amazing, I actually don't want to smoke! I've tried to quit on so many occasions, all without success, same as you. One time I managed to quit for a while, but in the end I was still craving that smoke when I was stressed. I also started with a Joye 510 (it was my wife's, and it was pink) I couldn't believe how much that thing felt like I was actually smoking. After using it alone for 2 to 3 days and not smoking at all though, I realized that I needed something that would last me all day. After I picked up that e-cigarette, I haven't had a real one since. But I was lucky in a way, I am out of work, so I didn't have to leave the house that much, and with me chain vaping that one (it had been in a drawer for a year and had only been used maybe once before I picked it up) the batteries would last from 15 minutes to at the most an hour. That and having to constantly refill the cartridges, it was frustrating. I eventually ended up buying a Joye Ego-Tank kit. If you like totally wicked, they have a re-branded model that they sell of the same model, the batteries last between 6-12 hours each, and the kit comes with two. I forgot the name of their model, but it says tank somewhere in it, I think it is the Inferno Tank model. If you get frustrated like I did with the battery life, and the hasstle of refilling, messing with refilling, this thing gets rid of all of those problems. My wife was ready to go back to smoking, because it was becoming too much of a hastle for her at times till I got hernia tank kit. She vapes so little she could have gotten away with a smaller battery, but she loves the ease of refill/swapping out the tanks.
There is sooooo much information out there, you made a great purchase with the 510 model, it really feels, and looks like a cigarette, but if you run into the same problems that I did, I just figured I would share my experience with you! Good luck and happy vaping!

Ohh one more thing. I NEVER smoked menthols, however for some reason when I first started vaping, menthol gave me the most "ahh I just had a smoke" feeling, it was weird. And it was the only thing I could taste for the first two weeks vaping. One other thing that saved me, was keeping some 36MG around for those times when I'm really craving a smokes. I normally VAPE 24MG, but some mornings, or with a cup of coffee, or I'm just stressed, it's good to keep around.
Again good luck, you'll LOVE IT!

Welcome Budd:)

RE: tank

Some LOVE it--some HATE it!!
Regular Joye Ego OR Riva (or other clone) --is a NO brainer imho.
A killer starter kit that you can go so many ways with later.
Got a EGO 3 weeks ago--and ordered a Riva as a backup--all parts exchange.
Have held off of the tanks so far--to many against at the moment:(

Main thing is --just quit the tar demons :)

the 510 was a good choice... the 510 ego with bigger battery might have been better but no biggie... just more charging.

I’m almost in the same situation as you. 20 yr smoker /quit/smoke/quit/smoke. I’ve been using my ego for 2 months with no smokes (analogs they call um here). I haven't looked back so that is the plus side.

the minus... A word of warning... This technology is still pretty new and a lot of it seems pretty unreliable (Atty’s mostly). I’ve spent a bit of money trying different liquids, atty’s and recently cartomizers (which I’m thinking are the best bet). I’m still trying to find my “sweet spot” so try not to get caught up on just ordering something to order something.

Dont get to discouraged though because it can be very satisfying when they work right. When you have an issue just check here because someone has been there.

good luck and heres to dropping the analogs!

If I could start over again I'd get an Ego or Ego clone kit as my first PV. You can order them from multiple vendors. They have long battery life, multiple vaping options depending on accessories (cartridge, cartomizer, dripping, and yes the new tank system), so you can purchase the kit and just a couple added accessories and be able to try multiple styles to find what suits you best.

Cignot has good deals on base Ego kits with 2 650mah batteries, and a full range of supplies.

Volcano has a really good clone called the Inferno that comes with a 650mah pass-through battery and a 1000mah battery.

There are may other sites with similar starter kits, look around.

My second unit was the Inferno kit (69.99) from Volcano. I added a box of carts, a drip tip, and 2 tank attys (tankomizers) with a box of blank tanks, and a case. Total was a hair over $100 (still cheaper than the first unit I bought *eye-roll*). I'd recommend the set-up to anyone. I've since ordered some cartomizers and a couple extra 510 atties. Personally I love the tank system and have had no issues with it, but I seem to be in the minority. I tank all day or when out and about and drip while at the house. Not impressed with the cartos personally, but many swear by them. Cartridges are for emergency purposes only, LOL!

You'll find that what works best for you doesn't work for another, which is why I recommend buying a solid base unit and then getting the different accessories to try out. Good luck, and happy hunting!

A month and a half ago I was in the same spot you're in now. You made the right decision to jump in and get started. There is an information overload on this forum and it's much easier to make choices once you have something in your hand and you can see what people are actually talking about.

I also made the choice to start with a 510 and I am happy to say that I am still using it. I changed over to using the Ce2 cartomizers rather than the atomizer/cart set-up for convenience and I bought a couple of the mega batteries as spares but I am still happy with the 510.

Best of luck to you.

Totally hear you bro, wife and I are in the same boat as you. Man theres such a wealth of information just on this one site alone that it kinda overwhelms you. Also feeling you on the whole lazy thing, is vaping going to be so much of a hassle that we'll just end up saying "this is just too much work" and start up on the cigs again. (man I really hope not). Time will tell though and we're going to give it a real effort as neither of us wants to continue smoking. Good luck to you.

Just be patient with it and you will be fine. I will also throw my support to the ego. It uses the same attys that you're getting just bigger battery which makes a huge difference in convenience. I would also order some backup attys or maybe try getting some cartomizers. Attys are not the most reliable devices on the planet!!

And yeah browsing here can be information overload especially when starting out. Just take it slow, get comfortable with it first and then you'll start to understand all the lingo and the tips/tricks to help you out.

Just don't give up on it!! If something isn't working right for you, just come here and ask and so many people will gladly help you on your way.

I've been vaping for only 2.5 months. I started w/KR808s after smoking for many years. For me, big batts are the way to go. I ordered the Elegant East XXL, but had really bad luck with that unit - two bad batteries in two weeks, so now I'm moving on the the Go-Go. I hear great things about the Riva and Ego also. I saw a poll on here somewhere asking what was the ecig that did the "trick" to finally quit smoking. The big battery units or mods is what did it for the majority of people. It's always good to a few good batteries (large or small) laying around in rotation anyway. And I agree, I still find the information overwhelming, but what a great group of people on here, huh?
