Another guy trying to get his 5 posts in.

Researching vaping. Smoked [moderated] for most of my life and picked up cigar smoking in college. When I quit smoking [moderated] a bunch of years ago I started smoking more cigars. Wife has been after me to cut back on the cigars. My daughter is using a PV to help her quit smoking. She's let my try it a couple of times and I liked it. Thinking about picking up an inexpensive starter kit soon. Trying to learn more about them so I can make an intelligent choice.

Learning a lot from here but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to ECF!

Do you know what kind of PV she has that you tried? If so it gives us something to work from if you want the same or similar. What is your price range and what are important features to you? (Like size, shape, battery life, VV)

A basic starter kit that is effective and will continue to make a great backup if you move up to bigger and better down the road is something like Katana Kit but order 2 so you have one to use while the other charges or go VV with something like this http://www.vaporbeast.com/eGo-Twist-Kit-p/32-0068-000.htm

Hope this helps!

I don't know what she has. I've texted her and am waiting for a reply. It was a little smaller than my favorite cigar, a Partagas#10. That's about 7.5 inches and a 49 ring gauge... 48 would be 3/4 inch. That's probably right in the size range I'd like. Battery life isn't too much of an issue. Probably 650mah to 900mah will be enough... especially if I have more than one available. I never go anywhere w/o a second batt for my cellphone and usually a usb 25000mah charge pack. Plus I'm use to plugging in my electronics whenever I can.

I'll definitely check those suggestions.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply.

It's reassuring to see some of the kits I was looking at in your suggestions as well as some other ideas. I'm probably looking at about $60 to get started... although I can see if I get into this that I'll soon have GAS since I have it in just about everything else I do.

I looked at some B&Ms on Yelp and there are a couple of them nearby that are very highly rated. I'll try to stop by them after work tonight.

Beware of the $$$$ at the B&M's!! They will try to rape you but then again, you will get instant gratification. Good luck, you can do this!!!!!!!!

LOL.. got the text back from my daughter a few minutes ago and she said pretty much the same thing. She's thinking about upgrading and says she'll let me have her current set up. Still don't know too much what it is but at least I won't be able to beat the price. ;)

I bought a Kanger EVOD and a house branded batt along with the charging setup and a bottle from one of the B&Ms nearby. Paid $8 for the EVOD and $16 for the batt. They also gave me 10% off for being a 1st time customer. Could have probably saved a little by buying online but it was worth the extra to get hands on with it and also to get it without waiting. Been using it since yesterday and I've been pretty happy with it.
