Hey All,

Recently started using my E-cig and I am loving it! However I have noticed after puffing for a day that I am left with an uncomfortable "sore throat" like feeling after smoking. Not sure if this would be the batting or the liquid I am using...Any ideas would be appreciated.

RN 4075 is the model number of the e-cig
Here is where I bought the liquid myPVshop.com Electronic Cigarettes - eLiquid 6 packs, Samplers
And I am using polyester craft batting I bought from Michaels...I believe it is 3 OZ.

Thanks,

A sore throat is normal after you start vaping, and it will probably go away after a few days. My advice is to definitely increase your water intake. That will help alleviate the sore throat. The amount of PG in your juice might be a part of the problem, too. PG can be irritating and some people have a sensitivity to it. Just my humble opinion, don't buy from them again. There are many good juice vendors who have a great variety of flavors, better prices, and you can choose the amount of PG/VG mix you want.

Drink more water and try different juices. You'll hear that alot because you are starting a new experience.
Check the end of the filler material to be sure its not burning.. I'm not familier with what your using.
Watch the video's. if you haven't, by MisstressNomad in the stickies above for broke newbies
and remember to take long soft pulls on your PV, not short hard ones like a cigarette
Of course, I'm not a doctor, so see your doctor jf the problem continues

I'm experiencing an irritated tongue. I use an ego with both vg and pg mix and some with just vg. My liquids are from Blue Mist (Smooth and Cherry Tobacco) and BWB (Espresso). Seems to occur with all three. I'm never without coffee or tea, so it's not water intake. Am wondering if it might also be a symptom of withdrawal. Been vaping (with about 3 analogs a day) for a little over 2 weeks. Anyone experiencing this? :p

I believe there are several factors that can cause a sore throat, sore gums, and sore other areas of the mouth:

Too high of nicotine level
Sensitivity to PG and/or VG
Sensitivity to the flavoring
Sensitivity to the heat
Not drinking enough water
Recovery symptoms of quitting smoking (in the short-term)

But, most of all (in my case, I think):

Vaping way too often, as in constant, sometimes 3 to 4 hits every minute. If I could put the dang thing down for a few minutes, the soreness starts going away. If I would vape just a few times every 1/2 hour or so (like I did when I used to smoke), I would have no soreness in my mouth.

I like to massage my gums and roof of my mouth with water a few times a day. Feels good to hold and swish around some water in my mouth for a few seconds, which helps wash off the buildup of PG, VG, nicotine, and flavoring from all areas of the mouth.

I think you're on to something. I do vape a lot. I'll restrain myself a bit. Thank you.

When I get a pain in a certain area of my mouth (when constantly vaping), I'll reposition the battery or PT, so the vapor hits a different spot. This helps some to allow the sore spot to quit being irritated constantly.

The hardest part for me is to take breaks from vaping. I love the taste and can't get enough of it. Just hope it won't always be like this, because it seems ridiculous to spend all this time sucking on a stick. :)

See, the problem with vaping is that it tastes good and there really isn't a way to tell how long you've been vaping (save an egg timer. LOL!) Analogs for us were the timer. You smoke it down and put it out. Well, now there isn't anything to put out. I just have to remind myself to put the damned PV down for a while after I've vaped for a few minutes. And right now I can feel my sense of self-discipline waning...must...not...pick...up...PV...

Crap...

There are great debates about coffee and tea not being a source of water because they (mainly coffee) is known as a diuretic. It actually removes water from your system. I am never without a cup of coffee , but I still have to drink more water since I started vaping. I have actually dehydrated myself because I thought coffee was good enough LOL.

I don't have to worry about "not picking it up." I just keep it in my hand at all times. :)

coffee and tea are both considered diuretics and if your not drinking some pure WATER you may still become dehydrated just adding a couple glasses a day extra than you normally drink can help
it helped me I am a coffeeholic but drinking a little more water helped my sore mouth and throat

OK, will drink plain water in addition to the tea and coffee. Goldenkobold asked if I was a menthol smoker. Answer, yes. May I ask why that would have a bearing on the tongue irritation? My husband who is also switching over to vaping says that his tongue is a bit irritated too, but not to the extent that mine is. By drinking more water might I expect to see improvement soon? Thanks in advance. You're all very helpful here.

I don't have a sore tongue, but I can tell that the vape hits my tongue, while an analog didn't. I think I hold my tongue in a different position due to the different drag technique. I've started to pay attention and avoid it . . . just in case.

where you a prior menthol user?

Yes I used to smoke parliament menthol lights...also the flavor i am using was menthol as well. I will take all of the advice here into consideration and let you know how things turn out...IM hearing from many people that my choice of liquids is probably not the best so I will look into that further too.

Today it's RY4 Vg only, lots of water, and from reading older posts on this same subject, it looks like rinsing your mouth out with a baking soda/water solution helps. Personally, I've noticed that when I drink coffee and tea they are irritating also. Could be a combo of too much acid from the dpg/vg liquid, coffee, and tea. The baking soda solution neutralizes the acid. My plan is to stick with the vg (I use the 8mg nicotine...very low), drink lots of water, and rinse my poor tongue with the baking soda solution. Will report back.
