I seem to notice the soreness in my throat after I accidently flood my atty. When I hear that gurgling sound, I know I dripped too many drops. I wonder if maybe it is not vaporizing properly when flooded, and the vapor is too moisture rich. That moisture is full of un-vaporized pg/vg, nic and flavoring. I also notice I just don't get a heavy cloud of vapor.

Maybe that moisture rich vapor is causing the soreness. When I drip only two drops in, I get a good cloud of tasty vapor and no sore throat.

Anyone else noticing the same?

Just updating. Went strickly with vg (8mg nicotine - Blue Mist - no menthol flavors), drank lots of water, rinsed with baking soda/water solution, rinsed with mouthwash and water before bed. Noted one thing in particular...I love iced and hot tea and drink lots of it during the afternoon and evening. The tea is very high in acid. The tea appears to have a very drying effect on the tongue whether I smoke an analog or an e cigarette. Was careful to stay away from the tea (much to my dismay) and found that provided I drank water or coffee with cream which appears to coat the tongue somewhat, I was fine. Did try using a dpg/vg mix today - without tea - and no problem. Yes, the tongue is better, but I MISS MY TEA. Drat.

Yes I used to smoke parliament menthol lights...also the flavor i am using was menthol as well. I will take all of the advice here into consideration and let you know how things turn out...IM hearing from many people that my choice of liquids is probably not the best so I will look into that further too.
according to one of the videos on here somewhere...some official sounding lady says that menthol smoking desensitizes your throat...and if you stop smoking menthol you will have an itchy throat regardless as the nerves comes back to life...I smoked one menthol cigarette about a three days after I started vaping and it did help the throat "itch"...but there is ALSO a vaping related dry throat feeling as well so yea...menthol smokers get it rough :p

Well, given I've smoked menthol cigarettes for over 30 years, I'd say there probably is a connection to the "nerve repair" theory. I'm going to stay with the vg based flavors and drink plenty of water. Irritation or no irritation I'm not going back backwards with this endeavor. Haven't experienced any throat irritation other than some dryness upon exhaling. Just that stupid tongue thing. I will get through this. On another note, day before yesterday, right around the 3rd week of vaping I realized upon awakening that I really didn't care if I had a morning cigarette or not. It didn't matter. The vaping is preferred. A very good thing.

When I get a sore throat, it's usually when I'm vaping a higher nicotine juice (like 24mg or 30mg) -- or when I vape with the 5volt 510 passthrough, which will cause pain wherever the vapor hits constantly in my mouth.

If I use only the eGo battery and 18mg juice, I don't usually get any pain in my mouth or throat.

Since I recently lowered the nicotine level to around 18mg and quit using the passthroughs so much, I haven't had nearly as many problems with soreness in my gums, roof, or throat. The soreness actually started after I started vaping 30 and 24mg juices and after I received the 5V passthroughs, so I think it's a sensitivity to the higher level of nicotine and warmer vapor hitting the same spot in my mouth so often.

Someone told me that the sore throat thing can be caused by inhaling the hot vapor & suggested I try not to pull and inhale at the same time... Does that make sense? The idea is to bring the vapor into your mouth, then inhale- this cools the vapor enough not to irritate your throat... Just an idea...

that's the proper way to inhale e-cigs. you don't really want to just take it straight into your lungs.

I got it now. No big deal though. My downfalls when i started vaping were indigestion (very common) and now a sore throat. But also, I just recently quit real cigs and have been coughing some of the nastiest stuff ever so obviously my throat is going to be a little sore from that as well.

Hope you stick around as posts like yours DO help people...even those who don't like posting in forums.

Sore throat isn't any different in smoking or vaping I've experienced. One thing that has worked for me is using "Cherry" flavor. And I've already decreased the nicotine levels. I'm not saying that everyone should try what I tried, I found that it's all up to the individual tastes. Drinking lots of liquids is good for you anyway, I personally drink a lot of unsweeten ice tea. Probably around a gallon a day. Good luck and if it doesn't go away, I suggest you see your doctore about it.

Yes I have noticed it too but it's not moisture rich air that you are getting but the opposite. Vapor is moisture rich air so a lack of vapor will indicate a lack of moisture. What I notice when I flood an atty is that I get a lot of heat but no vapor. So basically it is hot dry air that you are drawing in and is causing the irritation.

Couldn't say it better.

See, the problem with vaping is that it tastes good and there really isn't a way to tell how long you've been vaping (save an egg timer. LOL!) Analogs for us were the timer. You smoke it down and put it out. Well, now there isn't anything to put out. I just have to remind myself to put the damned PV down for a while after I've vaped for a few minutes. And right now I can feel my sense of self-discipline waning...must...not...pick...up...PV...

Crap...

I had a slightly sore/dry throat at first too but got over it with time. Drink more water, and as someone said, put the thing down every now and then! Not to knock a previous poster but my fave juice is my PV shop's Double Mint and I have had no problems with any of their juices, price is not bad either $7 for 15 ml and great customer service.

1) It went away a bit with me
2) I post this all over the forum but I'm really not a fan of chinese juices and the flavors... Flavored cartos seem to irritate my throat and sinuses -- esp WoW/vanilla/hot cartos... I switched to Johnson Creek and instantly noticed a huge difference... I won't go back to any prefilled cartos... And I vape hard!

I don't work for JC, but you may want to find different juices your body likes over time--they are not all the same; my sinuses and throat didn't like 30+ prefilleds...
