I know this has been asked many times, but just wanted to get a view what everyone does, since we all are probably still finding new ways to enjoy our vape.

For me, titanium never really worked as contact, so have just done a spaced wrap, it came out at 0.29 ohms and I am currently vaping at 430f putting 40W thru it. Just done it, so will see how it goes.

For Kanthal, my tight contact coils are getting black too quick, thinking of doing those as spaced too.

You guys?

I've done both spaced and contact coils with both Kanthal and Ti. I have much more experience with Kanthal.

Lately most of my coils are spaced and the average I.D. is getting bigger. I seem to get a bit more flavor from them with no negatives, but there are enough variables in the mix it's hard to know for sure what really affects performance the most. Wicking is definitely significant.

Here's my 2 cents ...

I make the same single coil every time ... 8 turns of Kanthal A1 - 27 AWG wrapped around a 2.8mm rod. This gets me between 1.25 and 1.30 ohms.

I tried the coil both spaced and contact ... I can't tell any difference, so just stick to a contact coil out of habit.

I agree with the " I really cannot notice a difference between either". Taste and vapor seem identical, TH maybe slightly more with contact. As for gunking, I think a contact will gather more , so will need to be cleaned quicker but the extra time that is given by a spaced coil, darkens your juice, so imo, both coils will last the same, if fresh tasting juice is what you want.....
