Until you have made your first 5 posts, you can only start new threads in the new members forum. It's nothing personal, just the best way we've found to stop spammers!

Seems like you need to find a new way. Nothing in THIS thread interests me, and I'm unable to reply to threads that do, it says I have insuffient priviliges.

By requireing me to make 4 more posts, You have just ensured that 100% if my first 5 posts will be spam, like this one. Really?

Or you can reply to us (dcfluegel and I) and that counts as a post. Spamming for post counts will get them deleted.
It takes 5 minutes to get 5 posts if you want to get them. I find it comical when this is a main complaint from a new member, when it's very easy to get 5 posts. So nothing personal, but the method that is used now works well and doesn't need to be changed.

The spamming you're doing with irrelevant posts of "3" and "4" is exactly why that rule is in place. Spamming for post counts doesn't go well with moderators. Actually a moderator is already watching you and deleting them.

So you're not done, you're back down to 3 post since you spammed posts. Nobody likes a spammer, just as you said

Wolf - just take a look at the new members forum, find another new members post and reply - "hi! I'm new here too" - the numbered spam posts won't work - it really is not that painful to tell other new folks howdy, I swear...

I guess the core concept of my original post is misunderstood. Or perhaps my understanding of what spam is. Any communication which has as its primary purpose, to bypass an arbitrary restriction, to me, is spam. In this case mandatory spam. The irony.
Like this one. I see however that it must be important to do so. Hello all. Jumping through hoops here. Doing my part in reducing spam.

Perhaps that's one way to look at it but the 5 post rule can be a terrific opportunity to meet and greet other new members, an important aspect of being part of any community in my opinion. And you never know when one will have an interest you share or a question you would also want to know the answer to. :)

Oh and BTW there is a little reply tab in the bottom right hand corner of someone's post if you want to quote someone's post. Your welcome. You can thank me by not spamming ;) oh and welcome!

noted - unless I am mistaken, though, the 5 post rule aligns with the goal of fostering a community here - not simply unlocking the other forums for replies... regardless, howdy - and welcome
In the past, I have seen many vendors/spammers start coming online and posting links and nonsense 5 minutes apart, one after another.

    Millionairedatedotcom anyone lol.

Imagine on a forum this big with this many subsections if 3,4 or even 1spammer were let loose on here, how it would become like playing whackamole for the mods. On a hit and run by the time the mods get to check a couple reports 75% of the forum is full of crap posts.

5 simple honest posts takes 10 minutes and in most cases that's 11 minutes too long for the spammers. And gives the community a minute to kinda feel a new posters intentions out.

They try, "suzie blablatech" will ask what tanks we like or they have suggestion so just email them lol.
