My first thought was they would be a magnet for airport security whether checked or hand luggage.

If you carry it on, you could always open it for them but trust me in a checked bag it would get broken. I once locked a bag of dive gear and when I reached my destination, the lock was gone and the bag had been ransacked. Luckily it was all still there.

You put a locked case with batteries and tubes and liquids through a hand luggage X-ray and I guarantee you will be stopped every time.

Pros & Cons...

Pros: Inexpensive. Keeps honest people honest... unless of course, as the case is small, they take the whole case. (Small lockable cases can turn the nominally honest into thieves - not the cases fault, just human nature)

Cons: Inexpensive. A bit too flashy perhaps? Would you put $500 worth of vape gear in it? Walls of case are (likely) either painted thin pressboard or thin, aluminum foil embossed pressboard. Chinese quality (mostly for looks) lock latch that could be pried open with a good quality fingernail file.

Alternate: Pelican or similar case. More money, (far) more durable, (typically) waterproof, can be fit with a good lock, slightly less ostentatious... and still small enough for someone to take the whole case - they'd just have a bit harder time opening it at their leisure.

Alternate: Grungy, threadbare camo (camo is sooo 90s) backpack. The height of high security - no one notices, no one cares and no one wants whatever equally worthless crap you keep in it. Put the inexpensive case in it... double high security. Cable lock it to the inside of the backpack... (almost) as good as armed guards and dobermans.
Cable a Pelican in it, not only is the equal to a tactical nuke in it's ability to protect, but can function as a floatation device for over water travels... 'cause you know the airplane seat cushion will absorb like cotton wick and sink like a Caravela with an 18650 in it.

Yes... I do have some time on my hands, why do you ask?

Does it have a carry handle on top?

It came in the mail today, and yes, it does have a carry handle on top. Seems okay. Not the sturdiest thing in the world. You can set the combination yourself, and that works fine. It will suit my purposes. Trying to figure out some sort of organization scheme for inside it. Maybe cardboard or foam.

Made a little organizer for the inside to divide it up. Made this out of box board (like cereal boxes are made of). I plan on making another as a shelf on top, and maybe some smaller boxes to fit inside the bigger divisions on the one I already made.
