Been vaping for a while, and been lurking on here for a while, but this is my first post so it has to be in the newbies section instead of the mech mod forum. Anyway, I am wondering if there is any specific tool for adjusting the parts of a mech mod that has the two small holes. I know a lot of people just use something like some small needle nose pliers, or a pair of tweezers, but it would be cool to have a tool made just for this.
Thanks,
Max

Found this on google images, I am talking about the two side holes that you use to unscrew/adjust these.

I have 3 mods, and all of them have a piece like this somewhere in them. The hemlock clone and 4nine clones both have it in the top cap, and my authentic Assassin has it at the bottom, near the button.

that's a fakehybrid topcap. It has no centerpin.
Recipe for excitement.

Not too bad if you know what you're dealing with and use an atty that has a long/adjustable centerpin... Works great for the Derringer/Praxis combo.

*ETA: Also, make damn sure that your battery wraps are in perfect condition!!

Thanks, should be pretty easy to maintain, I'm not a rough user and I work as a sign spinner at a vape shop, so I can get them re-wrapped easily.

Yes, it can be if the user doesn't use an atty with an adjustable center pin or doesn't adjust it out far enough.

That's why I prefer to just screw the adapter all the way up the atty post on mine. It just naturally gives me the maximum distance between the adapter and the end of the battery.

Now, the next question that must be asked... what batteries are you using, and what is the resistance of your build?

Yeah, those are only 20A rated batteries... There is no such thing as a 35A rated 18650.
Here are a couple of links for you:
Mooch: There are no 18650's rated over 30A
Baditude: Battery Basics

That being said: at 0.3 ohms, you are only pulling 14A on a fully charged (4.2V) battery. So you're still safe... just don't go below that and you'll be fine. Stay safe, bud... nobody wants to be a statistic...

Ahhh... another note... "about .3 ohms" is not a measurement. 0.25 is rounded to 0.3, but there is a 2.8A difference between the two. Accurate measurements of resistance are critical when dealing with sub-ohm vaping on a mechanical mod...

I have an 35A Efest IMR18650 2500mAh (flattop) that I use in my mods that don't have a center pin, and my current build is at about .3 ohms.

Just to let you know, this battery has actually just a 20 amp continuous discharge rate, not 35 amps as advertised. Efest is notorious for over-rating their battery specs. This specific battery is a re-wrapped LG 18650HE2 2500mah 20 amp CDR.

You'll be ok with a 0.3 ohm build (which draws a 14 amp load from the battery), but you're at the upper limits of the battery with little headroom for safety. You're also putting a lot of faith into an inexpensive ohm reader in displaying a precise and accurate resistance reading.

Purple Efest Batteries: Not As Advertised

1.0 ohm = 4.2 amp draw
0.9 ohm = 4.6 amp draw
0.8 ohm = 5.2 amp draw
0.7 ohms = 6 amp draw
0.6 ohms = 7 amp draw
0.5 ohms = 8.4 amp draw
0.4 ohms = 10.5 amp draw
0.3 ohms = 14.0 amp draw
0.2 ohms = 21.0 amp draw
0.1 ohms = 42.0 amp draw
0.0 ohms = dead short = battery goes into thermal runaway

In addition to what has already said about the Efest battery, I'll quote @Mooch as he says it very well.

"NOT Efest
NOT MXJO
NOT AWT
NOT Imren
NOT Vappower
NOT Basen
NOT Cloud Chaser

NOT any battery from a company that just buys a Sony, Samsung, or LG battery and puts their own wrap on it. Why buy one of those, for more money, when you can get the actual battery for less money? Just my personal opinion... :)"

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

I left my ohm reader at the vape shop yesterday, I just stuck it on my istick 30W, but it only goes to one decimal.
