I wonder sometimes the differences for some as to what gets deemed as spitback vs. just normal "wet vape". True spitting is the worse and easiest to avoid--it seems. But for me, spitting, spraying or misting is all what I'd like to avoid--and typically do, but those other times is why I made the thread.
I think it's deeper than simple coil placement because sometimes the coil has to be right under the drip tip (depending on where the air comes in), so depending on the atty, moving the coils closer to the airflow sometimes it will still be right under the tip. For me (with straight-forward builds) I have better luck getting a flavorful vape without juice in the mouth--be it spraying, misting or spitting--by having denser cotton for macros coils and slightly looser cotton for 'micro' coils. Then, it comes down to coil placement.
But as
@kformeck also said, certain twisted builds are just more prone to spitting, so with those, I guess, they work better for certain atties where you can get some distance from the coil and the drip tip. Like with the NarDA, maybe that's not the atty to use a twisted build since the coil is super close and directly under the tip and since it has dual-airflow, trying to move the coils closer to the airflow would be counterproductive since you can't move it in two directions at once.
I don't know, I am talking out of my ... This is just one of those things in vaping where I think the art of building comes in. No hard and fast rules, just takes knowing your build, wicking and atty. Right now I am vaping out of my Sub Zero RDA and I am getting
very minimal misting--barely detectable. The vape is great. And this set of dual-coils is spaced-macro build. Similar to this build (but with one less wrap) and my cotton now is denser than used in this photo:
p.s. Recently I've become a huge fan of macros!
