The most frustrating issue I'm having is setting up a stainless steel mesh wick on a genesis system..I think I wasted a full A4 size 400 SS mesh n a few meters of 28awg/flat ribbon wire while trying to set it up...LOL! I watched videos tutorials on YouTube and Google a few pages but when it comes to practical...still a failure...here's a summary:

MOD: Nzonic with 18650 batt.
rba: I-Atty / Kraken/ smok-R
Wick: SS Mesh (400)
Wires: 28AWG or 0.5/1.0 Flat ribbon wire. (4 to 5 wraps on every attempt)

Problems: I think it's worse than a hotspot issue..haha...ok..the wire which is connected to the centre pole will always light up first(the rest of the coil won't), gets brighter then breaks and I have to recoil again but same issue surfaces again n again. One more issue is there once or twice I got lucky but hotspots issue still exist..and when I tweak the coils..it happened again...lol! Maybe I'm fated to be a dripper forever..hehe..I seek you guys help on this :)

the hot leg on your positive is a tension issue 90% of the time. You want to have consistent tension throughout the coil.

did you try the Petar K method yet

when you are pulsing make sure you are not holding it too long.

and what resistance (ohms) are your 4-5 wraps coming in at?

I think my search skills needs some brushing up cause I never heard of the Petar K method..will look on that soon.

Between 1.13 to 1.52 ohms.

What he's saying is with a fresh battery @ 4.2 the likely chance of popping a coil may be higher than using a slightly discharged one. As was mentioned make sure u quick pulse at first while setting up the coil. If my positive leg was hot I would patiently fiddle with the other coils and see if I can work that out.

PK or drill bit method

the bit and the wick must be almost the same size.

first you make the wick fit the wickhole, not loose but not so tight you have to force it.
then find a drillbit scewdriver etc that fits the wickhole just like the wick does.
wrap the wire on the bit then attach it to the screws making sure it is snug and even all the way from top to bottom.
then carefully slide the wick into the coil.
slowly pulse out hotspots while adjusting the coils.
