I love the clouds, but would still like somegood flavor. I don't have a mech mod. I prefer the boxes over them. May want a new better one. Like to spring for temp control as it seems like a great way to upgrade. I understand the theory of coil building. Took 2 years electricity in high school, and still remember some, plus I have an experienced friend. I already have some premade kanger subtank .5 ohm coils. Could I just pop those in?

You can pop those right into a Kanger subtank, sure.

Pardon me if I sound cynical, but that doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence. Google what happens when a Lithium battery goes supernova. It ain't purdy. And once n a while someone looses an appendage and the entire world screams about the dangers of e-cigs and how we should ban them, etc, etc... It's just bad for everybody when some knucklehead blows himself up. Lol! Read up on it. This is nothing like high school "electricity class".

As for a mod, I'd say anything regulated and over 50W. Decide how low you want to build and check the specs on the mod to see if it will handle it. Generally, higher wattage mods allow you to go lower on your builds. RDAs with more air flow chuck bigger clouds but produce less flavor as a general rule, but it has a lot to do with how you build as well.

Thank you for your concern mister cynical. Rest assured that any sort of upgrades would be a long time coming. That's why I was asking about rdasome for beginners. I was looking for something good and possibly single coils to learn the basics first. As previously stated I do have a friend at work who's been dripping forever.hopefully I can get him to have out and look over my builds, and give me some tips the first couple times. I have seen the end results of some of those grisly accidents. I'll be having a subox mini to start, but I do know that even if it's good for some tanks, the fixed pin will probably cause problems. They're supposed to be fixing that. Plus I want the v2 subtank. I have the old one. So starter rda anyone?

Honestly, most RDAs are pretty easy to build and wick. I still love my Magma for flavor and at this time, its my only non bf dripper I have.

I recently gave away a Plume Veil, and it was an easy build.

We all have to start somewhere :). Something that can be single or dual like the Magma would be a good first one. Perfect single coil first before moving to dual coil.

I was just saying that I can remember some of what amps, ohms, voltage, and wattage is still. I wasn't saying that I know all of the ins, and outs of the of building, and everything else that goes along with mods and their coils. Obviously, as is evident from the subject of this thread. If I did you wouldn't see me on here asking for suggestions for starter, entry level builds, and information about said RBA's. At the moment I will only be having a regulated box that goes up to 50w. I'm not sure which newer, higher wattage to go with. Looking at Segeli, P4U, or istick.

I would avoid the istick 50Ws. I don't think they are built well enough to be 50W mods. And too many reported problems, especially when drippers leak juice into them.

You can get a Sigelei 100W+ for $57 shipped right now from Elev8 with code "5off".
Actually from doing some research I've heard the same thing about them crapin out on people. My friend was telling me about the 150w Segelei he's got, says its killer! I looked at that Magma RDA which was suggested earlier. Damn! I'd have to make do with a clone. It's $125.

There are plenty of very nice Magma clones under $20. I often buy a clone to try it out before buying the authentic because of that. Fasttech has nice Magma clones for about $12. Not much loss if it doesn't suit you.

The UD Igos are authentic and cheap. So is the Wotofo Freakshow. Cthulhu Mods has a new RDA for $22 at Smog Distribution.

Cloud chucker attys, but authentic Doges and Mutations are also inexpensive.

For cloudchasing, you will likely want to pick up something that offers a lot of airflow. The Igo-L and W as well as the Magma are good flavorful attys and nice starters, but they are not cloud machines by any means.

If you havent done any building before, it might be good to start off easy and work your way through wire gauges and powerlevels step by step.

With your subtank mini it should of came with an RBA deck. Check your box. Start building coils on that and wicking it to get into the habit. It is actually a very easy deck to build on. Try to aim for .5 ohm coils which is the same as the OCC coil. I am running three STM's and using the RBA deck on all of them. Once you get that down pick up a magma clone. They are excellent flavor chasers and produce decent clouds.

I totally agree with you. First coil I made was on a subtank mini.
