Hi Folks,

First off: I love vaping and the community around it. I've been lurking on this forum for a while and have found some really useful information. Thank you all for being such a helpful community, to the point where I just decided to register an account and join the fun. Keep on keeping on!

Now, the main reason I made an account was because I am about to start to DIY and make my own e-juices. I'm really excited to get into this aspect of vaping, but I find myself a bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information and vendors, etc. when it comes to DIY. I've found some great sources for purchasing VG and PG to make my own juices, but I am a bit stumped when it comes to purchasing the Nic Base itself. There seem to be a number of reputable vendors for Nic Base, but I want to make sure I get this right the first time around.

So, which vendor(s) do you all recommend/like the most for purchasing Nicotine Base?

I will be mixing juice at 3mg/ml for myself, and 9-12mg/ml for a friend. It seems that purchasing Nicotine Base at a higher level is the most cost effective and versatile approach, and I would like to buy high(er) quality Nicotine without too much throat hit. Since I'm just starting out, I'd prefer to avoid buying a huge quantity right off the bat. What are your suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any replies/advice, and happy vaping to you all!

personally, I use NudeNicotine.com - excellent product, great service and good prices - they should have a coupon code out this Friday (late Labor Day sale - they have been putting in their new clean room facility and been a little busy, lol)... think I may be doing some stocking up :)

and you can hit their site and get a free 15ml sample of their nic base also - all you pay is $2 shipping (I got the 100mg/ml 50%pg/50%vg as my sample... actually made a decent bit of juice with it, lol - and immediately placed an order for 250ml of the same base afterwards)

NudeNicotine is definitely one of the vendors that I've heard some good things about, and that free sample sounds like a great option to try their stuff out. Seems like a no-brainer actually, haha. Thanks for the recommendation!

I prefer MyFreedomSmokes brand...

+1 for MyFreedomSmokes

Welcome aboard @RideTheJet

Cool, I've heard of them but haven't actually looked into what they have to offer. I will definitely check out their site. Thanks for the recommendation and the welcome!

@RideTheJet When I got into DIY I broke my orders up into three different orders as to save on shipping charges because as you probably have figured out by now it is almost impossible to find everything at one place and get the best possible deal. I order all my nic base as well as PG and VG from one place. RTS Vapes. Prices are great and if you buy wholesale you will find you will get your best bang for you buck. At least I did (100mg pg base btw and as far as quality... great. Not harsh at all). They also offer a discount for first time purchases that you should take advantage of should you go with them. Items shipped in a very timely manner and were packaged great and were undamaged when they arrived. They even called me the day after I placed my order to make sure I understood what I had purchased and offered advice on storage and the like which really impressed me. I will purchase through them again. My second purchase was through amazon which was my equipment. I knew what method I was going to use ahead of time from doing my research on this very forum. I decided to mix by weight as it seemed to me to fit my preferences especially the ease of cleanup and accuracy. Last and my most difficult purchase by far were flavorings. I spent hours searching for recipes that it seemed I would like to try, compiled a list of flavorings for those recipes then began searching for those flavorings. You will find a lot of times that not one place will have all the flavors. One site will have some but not all so you will have to go to another site to pick up the remainder of you flavorings. At least that is what I found to be the case. I was lucky that I only had to order from two places for my concentrates, RTS Vapes and ecigexpress, both great sites for flavorings. I hope this helps in narrowing down your search options. Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of DIY!

Thanks so much for the in-depth response! I will check out RTS Vapes and ecigexpress for Nic and flavorings. There are so many flavors out there, it's good to know you can get a selection of multiple flavor vendors from the same site. I'm probably gonna start with simple recipes, even mixing just one flavor and working up from there. Are there any flavors you have found particularly delicious? I tend to like fruity flavors, but also enjoy some sweet ones like cinnamon roll. I am also ordering some of my supplies from Amazon; gotta love that free prime shipping :)

I am located in the USA.

I did search your post for any kind of american phrases or words. The only one i found was :

"I'd prefer to avoid buying a huge quantity right off the bat".

We wouldn't usually use this word in this context (highlighted in red) in the UK, but there's no guarantee of that. So i really couldn't tell, just from that or anything else in your post, where you were from.

My experience is mainly with Capella, The Flavor Apprentice, flavour Art, and some Loranns. As far as particular flavor I tend to lean more towards desert and tobacco type flavors. Love my RY4 double! A must have for any diy. I also tend to follow recipes more than single flavors or experimenting with my own mixes atm. Once I get several all day vapes in my DIY recipes I'll focus more on coming up with my own mixes. I do however love the idea of the "seasoning" part of diy... for example adding moisture to mixes or adding a salty taste to a recipe. There is one thread that I would say is a must read for all diy'ers. The whole thread is well worth the read. It's long but I highly recommend it.

Welcome @RideTheJet, I agree with nude nicotine and ecigexpress, I've used both with good results.

Thanks for the welcome and the recommendations!

Yeah, I realize now that I should have included my location in my original post, given that vaping is a global community. Good catch on the subtle American slang ;) I also posted right after registering, so there's no info yet on my profile. I'll update it to avoid any confusion in the future.

Awesome, thanks again! I haven't tried any tobacco flavors yet but I do enjoy a good cigar and a pipe smoke now and then, so it's a flavor category I've been meaning to explore. Now that I'm starting DIY I'll have to pick up some tobacco flavors, and I'll start with the RY4. Seems like a flavor that lots of people enjoy. And I'll certainly read through that forum post, looks like there's lots of good info there.

@RideTheJet Charlie Noble Tripoli and Soller's Pointe. Hint hint ;)

yeah - that Soller's Pointe is killer... really like Charlie's Commodore Pearry too

found a couple of clone recipes for the Soller's Pointe I am going to try, too - going to have to add a couple things to next flavor order

Man, those juices all sound delicious! Thanks for sharing.

@dcfluegel Please let me know how those clone recipes come out. I'd love to try making them if they are good.

@kaahn Is the RY4 Double you like the one from TFA? I want to include it in my flavorings order if it is.

Thank you all so much for you recommendations and advice in helping me get started here! I've placed some orders for PG, VG, Nic base, and equipment. I feel much more secure in my orders having heard what you all have had to say. I'm planning to place an order for flavors sometime today or tomorrow (so many flavors to try).

Quick question: What cream flavors do you recommend as an additive to round out fruity mixes and/or tobacco mixes? I've heard good things about Bavarian Cream, Whipped Cream, and Vanilla Swirl from TFA and also Vienna Cream and Whipped Cream from FA. Any thoughts?
