Be careful with those flavorings though. Start small and work your way up. A few percent on menthol may be too much for you. Also anything strong. Like absinthe is very strong to me. To the point where it coats my mouth even at 5 percent.

So true. It depends on the flavor and the person. Menthol is tricky--def start small! Absinthe, now, I love. I can probably smoke the flavor alone lol, but I'm Turkish, and our national drink, "raki," is anise flavored. I can tolerate Flavor's Apprentice original caramel in near-microscopic drops. Any more than that, and it's unvapable (for me).

It's really all about percentages if you can do percentages you will be fine. Unless you are looking for 100vg I would buy the PG base because it's easier to work with. The easiest way to start is to fill your bottle first with the desired amount of nic base. Let's say you want to make a 10mm bottle and you want 20mg. Just do the math. In this case it would be only 2mm of base. 1mm of base would make it only 10mg when the bottle is full. Then add in your flavoring. Not all flavoring is equal. tobacco, cinnamon and menthol or any strong flavors takes much less. The rest takes more. After that fill it with your desired amount of VG/PG.

The other thing I would suggest is to buy water soluble flavoring. Oil bases are a pain in the .... to deal with. Flavor West is my favorite.

One more thing, always write down exactly how much you have added because when you do make the juice you have been dreaming of you want to be able to repeat it.

Start out small too. There is no use starting out with any bottle larger than 10mm in fact that is a good size to start with because it's easy to do the math with.

Hope this helps.

Please check out the DIY section of this forum. It has some guidelines from other DIYers showing how much of a certain flavor from specific manufacturers they preferred. I know I have found & saved suggested percentage charts for LorAnn's, FlavorArt, TPA/TFA, and Tasty Puff. There may be more.

Watkins & McCormick are the easiest one for me to find locally (& yes, I do check the ingredients to make sure it is safe--some are not or have too much extra junk in them--also covered in the DIY section) so it is what I play with the most although I do have some TFA that I ordered from Wizard Labs and played with to get my feet wet--literally a couple of times.

Thank you for letting me know. I would honestly have to say that this has been the friendliest forum I have been on. I ride motorcycles and i'll be honest... Those forums can get pretty nasty for people that don't know what they are doing. I found it pleasurable dealing with you people. Very understanding and seems like everyone is willing to lend their advice and honest opinions. You couldn't ask for more.

If y'all use 12, 18, 24. Then you will want to buy something higher than the 18 mg on wizard lab.
I screwed up and bought the 18mg 100% pg. Now I can only make around a 12mg juice.

WoW! am I glad I read this. It sucks that 18mg is the only thing they have left. They are all sold out of the other levels. Any recommendations for another site to get the Nic?

Whats TPA/TFA? Also, is there a chart in DIY that would let me know in the flavorings what all is good and bad as far as ingredients?

That's where I got my nicotine. It arrived quickly, in a dark brown glass bottle.

Re The Flavor Apprentice, Lorann, etc., there are recipes in the diy forums, but it's really hard to make a list of the "good" and "bad" ingredients, as it's subjective. Some people love the caramel from the Apprentice, while some people (like me) hate it.

I'd start off buying very small quantities of ingredients you'd enjoy in real life. If some mixture or a single ingredient pleases you, then get more. Your preference might be surprising; I love fruit flavors, but not in a vape. I'm not crazy about cinnamon, but I love it in a vape. Absinthe I love in any form. It's trial and error.

There are flavor percentage charts for several manufacturer's flavors within certain threads in the DIY section. There are also threads devoted to recipes using those flavors. You'll have to scroll through the threads or do a search for "percentage chart". That is how I started. Put your reading glasses on & be prepared for an all day study session--LOL!
