Greetings all ..... I'm a newbie from the get-go.

I have just taken my first puffs from a pre-filled cart of Marlboro - high on the Joye 510. My questions are:

1. When you change flavors, do you add new liquid to the old liquid?
Or do you start with a new cart?

2. The fold-out instructions with my kit say: ".... use of liquid other than
510 liquid will damage the atomizer beyond repair." Are there some suppliers that only sell 510 liquid so I don't get mixed up?

3. The fold-out says to remove cartridge at night and let the atomizer dry out. I assume by removing it and setting it on a paper towel. Do most of you do that?

4. I bought a 6 bottle, 5ml sample pack, 24mg, of various tobacco flavors. I probably will want to cut it back, so I will purchase the 0 nic and some empty bottles. If I add half 24mg and half 0 mg, will that bring it down to 12mgs? That sounds like a stupid question, but I'm only an hour out here.

Thanks for your help. I'm starting to feel light-headed, so I'll do a look-up on what that's all about. I am so excited about making a change-over to a PV. I've been smoking tobacco for wayyyy too many years.

Thanks again. Ipps

Hello Ipps & welcome :)

Answers as follows :D

1) whichever you prefer to do. I'm lazy so often just add a new flavour & vape through the mix :D

2)That's rubbish IMHO - just sounds like your supplier trying to get you to only buy juice from themselves.

3)Nope, I don't. But it does help occasionaly to do this if the attie needs a bit of draining.

4) you can cut the juice to make it a lower nic content with Glycerine which can be bought very cheaply from supermarkets or drug stores.

The light headedness may be due to you vaping a too high nic juice -or (just to add confusion) the opposite. A lot depends on how much you used to smoke.

No disrespect to Chrissie, she's been at this longer than I have, but #3 isn't a bad idea. I don't do it every night but I often blow the juice out of my attys and leave them to drain over night cart side down on a paper towel. Might do some good. Certainly doesn't hurt.
#2 is complete bullshirt. I'm not sure who they expect to buy that crap.
#4 Yeah if you cut 24mg in half it's 12mg. That being said, remember that when you cut the juice you cut the flavor too if you don't cut it with a flavored 0mg juice.

ok, I took off the pre-filled Marlboro - high cart and filled an empty cart with Cappuchino, 11mgs. Much better... no lightheaded ness now.

I guess I'll buy some glycerin and empty bottles to cut the tobacco sampler pack of 24mgs.

Besides tweezers, what other doo-dads do I need? What was most helpful to you when you got started?

BTW, thanks for the replies. Ipps

You're liable to be asking about refilling cartridges soon, so here you go in advance...
:)

You put as much juice in as the filler material in the cartridge will hold without pooling at the top of the filler material. If it pools at the top, just dab it with a paper towel or tissue.

The problem is, if you are just putting drops right on top of the filler material that comes with the cartridge, it isn't going to sink to the bottom without a little help. You can use the straw modification, or you can use a toothpick or paper clip to push the filler aside a little bit so that it can breath while you are putting in the drops. Some people use a syringe or a needle tipped dropper bottle to get all the way down to the bottom of the cartridge.

And I have found that if you replace the stock filler material with blue foam, you can actually put the drops right in if you tilt the cartridge to the side while doing so, but that is probably a bit more than you want to bite off and chew right now.

And PLEASE make sure to sign the petition linked in my signature below!!
Well, at least if you don't want THEM to take your electronic cigarette away.

And that goes for all of you reading this who haven't even tried an electronic cigarette yet.
Please, take a moment to help, if not for your sake, then for ours.
:)

Don't get me wrong, Chrissie. I don't clean attys anymore either. I don't feel it's worth the trouble. They never seem to work the same after I clean them and they cost less than a pack of ciggies each so I figure when they get crappy, to hell with 'em.

Couldn't agree with you more Mistinthewoods :D

Ipps, now don't laugh but the most the most useful thing to me has been .....................

................

... a paper clip

Honestly! they are so useful for helping to restuff cartridges, squishing the juice into the filling, scraping out any gunge round attie/battery contacts & a million & one other uses that I'm too tired to think of at the moment :D

When changing flavors if you have a fresh cart, use it so you can tell how it tastes. Mark the cart & use for it for that flavor.

I guess I'll buy some glycerin and empty bottles to cut the tobacco sampler pack of 24mgs.
If you need a cig., hit the 24.
Were you smoking full or lights?

Yep, I used a paper clip to fill the cart. Works great.

I smoked lights before. One pack a day.
I will still smoke occasionally, because it makes me anxious to think about changing over to a PV right away.

I need to practice vaping and figuring out a comfortable nic level.

I don't even want to think about dripping, dipping or anything too fancy.

Right now, my goals are to keep the PV clean, the battery charged and the cart filled. And to buy whatever I need to cut the 24mgs.

So do you think it is better to mix the nic with glycerin rather than ordering a bottle of 0 nic? Or does it work ok, either way?

Definitely better to buy 0 nic in the same flavor.
That way you don't lose any flavor when you dilute it.

And one pack/day of lights?
I'm going to guess you might settle in at around 16mg to start.

That would be 2 parts 24mg + 1 part 0mg

Sounds like you are doing very good. Order the 0 nic. immediately as mixing w/ unflavored will cut the flavor.

Some of us smoked when we got the PV.
I went down to half the first day w/o trying.

Hey all...

Started yesterday, after 35 years of analogs.

Incredibly, I am doing fine without them. I've had two packs sitting here not 2 feet from me, and haven't reached for them once. Having tried to quit multiple times, I'm just amazed.

Started with a kr808d-1 I got from Analogalternative - super nice guy running it, and he shipped fast.

So far, I've only used USAmix and RY-4, but I've ordered some additional flavors - can't wait to get my hands on them.

AND...

I already called and wrote my Senator (I'm in NY) about the proposed ban.

:vapor:

(GREAT board, btw - found a WHOLE bunch of answers here. )

Have a great night!

m.

Sirvette...

Just want back to a tobacco cig...
and already, I can taste the harshness again.
Even in premium lights.

So I'll be alternating until I can fully convert to a PV.

What a relief to know I'll be off tobacco in a few months.

Just a PS: I read a newbies post about maybe being too stupid to vape, or something like that. I felt the same way today. Even tho I've been reading this forum for 3 weeks. I felt ready to go. When everything arrived, I went totally blank. Like... now what??? I think it's just a matter of getting over that mental wall. And posting here.

Thank you everyone for answering the same questions over and over again. You are helping to save lives, but I guess you know that.

I'm pretty sure every single one of us was amazed when it happened to us.

So am I to assume that you also signed the petition?

I think a lot of us had the "deer in the headlights" experience when we got our first pv's. I did and consider myself a techie and had done a fair amount of reading here before I even ordered my pv. You'll get over it too.

I never intended to quit smoking entirely. A week or so later I had. I had some awkward missteps in that first week though. I made it. That's all that counts.
