I thought I'd post a thread for newcomers like myself who are trying to assess what the startup costs for a switch to e-cigs might cost and also where to acquire the stuff (in the USA). Here is a break down of what I've spent this week for my equipment:

DSE901b starter kit - $30 shipped (ebay seller pingonline)

16 oz VG and 16 oz PG - $20 shipped (Natural Bulk Cosmetic Bases * Soap Making * Soapmaking Supplies * Essential Oils * Bulk Bases * Soap * Private Labeling * Contract Packaging * Soap Making Supplies)

12pk of LorAnn Flavors - $20 shipped (ebay seller thecandylodge)

30ml 36mg Vanilla juice, usb passthrough and 1 spare atomizer - $60 shipped (puresmoker.com)

So that comes out to $130. I'll still be buying some sort of syringe for measurement and some polyester batting for the carts so let's say another $10. That adds up to a grand total of $140.

Considering the fact that I currently smoke about 2-3 packs a week, obviously it's going to take quite some time to justify the expense. However, I still feel it's well worth it given the added pleasure and diminished harm associated with this form of nicotine intake.

Hope this helps...

My start-up order 10/17/08. Received from Puresmoker 10/22/08.

Items Ordered:
1 : Black Original Classic ECigarette $49.95
2 : Original Classic Atomizer - Black $19.98
10 : Original Classic Cores with Inhalers $6.90
1 : PURE eJuice - 15ml - Apple - Medium $9.99
1 : PURE eJuice - 15ml - Menthol - Medium $9.99
1 : PURE eJuice - 15ml - Strawberry - Medium $9.99

With 5% discount and free ship $101.46.
1 Zippered case from Wallyworld $2.

I lost a little bit of liquid from 2 bottles on a trip and had about 3 weeks where it had been misplaced and I bought analogs. I've only used 5 of the cores and am on my last day or 2 for the liquid.

E-cig total for 3mnths 1wk $103.46
Analog total for same time frame would have been $245.00 (98 x $2.50)

one cost that my friend pointed out...is the cost of your LIFE.

granted there are no long term studies, but even the small time they've been out, people are feeling better by getting off analogs, and that's a cost that can't be measured in dollars.

or British Sterling :)

(ok or any other worldly currency!)

As discussed in another thread, Katy has a good ultimate starter kit for much less than that at thesmokelessshop. Just my own opinion - nobody NEEDS their own PG and VG supplies, especially not for starting out. A good dual atomizer kit and some carts or her ultimate kit w/liquid and case is great for newbies.

I started out with one regular single atomizer kit and a few cart boxes and quit analogs for good. Many of us did.

My startup cost me a fortune.8-o Ihave spent $300-400 on 1 DSE 901 and one Janty Kissbox for e-cigs. Those 2 alone were $200. The rest was on various juices and extra parts and other accesories. I probably have enough juice already to last months though so it will balance out eventually. Problem with this so far for me is it reminds me of my pipe smoking habit. I started because the price of the tobacco was cheaper just like juice is cheaper. Problem being there are so many different blends I had to to try different ones I had heard good reviews of. I have enough pipe tobacco to last me a year or more right now. Its starting with juice now. Same with pipes and e-cigs. Different pipes makes the same blend taste different so I have a variety of pipes. I've started to notice the same with my e-cigs. The same juice tastes different in my 901 then it does in my kissbox. So this isn't going to be a cheap habit for me either. I feel better and I'm happier so it really doesn't matter.

all i gotta say is i get some crazy looks when walking thru the mall with a pee wee and even had a security gaurd tell me to put it out, until he found out that there was no flame or tobacco, its kinda funny what people say to you until they see whats really going on. But, ive smoked analogs for about 9 years now and omg ...finally thanks to the advances in technology i quit analogs and get my energy back, im sure everyone can relate when i say i dont miss the coffing weezing and waking up with a sore throat , and the horrid smell.
