Hey guys I just started to DIY my own flavors and I think it has been going pretty well. I haven't really nailed a flavor that I really liked yet, but that is pretty much the fun of experimenting like a mad chemist.

My question is about the whole steeping process. After I mix in all my flavors, nic base, etc... I have read that it is a good idea to steep them for awhile for the flavors to blend well together.

What I don't really understand is how some of the Vendors that I have purchased from have just great tasting juice as soon as I receive my package. I know that there is a steeping process during the shipping, but usually that is at MOST 3 days in my experience. Is it possible that the juices that some of these vendors make have been pre-made which allows the flavors to be more bright by the time I receive them or is there something I'm missing?

I read a really good recipe here on the forums that I just made last night and I dripped a little bit right now and I can tell it's going to be a flavor I want to make in a bigger bottle, but it definitely seems to need a little more time for all the other flavors to mesh together because the last flavor I added (pomegranate) seems to be the dominant even though I only used 3%.

My process after all the ingredients go into the bottle is to give it a warm bath... I get a cup of warm water and let the bottle sit in there for like 15 minutes then I throw it in my closet to let it steep. I've been doing about 20% flavorings (This was the total amount for the recipe I used, which are all fruity flavors). Is there something I can use to either brighten the flavors or do I just have to play the waiting game and be patient for it to steep longer?

Thanks! Hope to hear all your advices.

First: Not all mixes need steeping and this explains why you can get premade that doesn't need steeping. But before I make a bigger bottle I always steep to make sure the bigger bottle won't change to something I don't like. If I like it without steeping and with steeping a week, then I make a 30ml bottle.

Yeah there are things that may help brighten up a flavor. There's a link to a thread in my butterfly farts and unicorn tears blog that may help you, but patience is a huge help in DIY. If you don't have patience, you probably want to get an ultrasonic cleaner to speed that steeping up.

I use a ultrasonic to steep. I recently started DIY so as a beginner its hard to make a liquid then sit around a week or two wondering how its gonna come out. my ultrasonic has a max 8 minute timer. I usually do 7 or 8 cycles. Also the water in the ultrasonic gets hot after a few cycles so it also gets a warm bath. You don't want to let the bath get too hot. It could burn off you nicotine or so I've heard. good luck.
