Steeping Shockers

I have SO many juices in "the closet," ones I keep there steeping indefinitely - most times because I was disappointed with it so there they sit in juice hades waiting for one last chance before I PIF.
Every so often a juice achieves a stepping rebirth, surprising me with its depth, complexity and total yumminess ( that's the technical term).
Today's steeping shocker is Big Willie's Vanilla Custard. Steeping time after first trying (and subsequently closeting it) about 5 months. Absolutely rich, dense and flavorful with a solid TH.
What about you? Biggest steeping shocker? How long did it have to sit?

5 months?? Dang. I'm pretty new to vaping, so I haven't had the chance to let anything steep that long. However, I was thinking about throwing several juices away earlier because I haven't been digging them at all. Maybe I should just save em....

How important is it to be in a dark area? I just have them sitting on my dresser, but there's never any sunlight in here and I'm rarely even home. When I am I'll just have a lamp on.

Most every custard I have tried has benefited from a decent steep, I don't have any that have lasted being put away 5 months but I have put some away for 30 days. General rule for me is if I don't like it when It arrives put it away for 2 weeks then try it again, still don't like it but it seems to be changing for the good then put away for another 2 weeks otherwise put it in the pass it forward box, if after 1 month it's not enjoyable then I move it to pass it forward, the only exception I've made to this rule was Nicoticket frennila and that's because it specifically had a disclaimer to let it sit 4-6 weeks to get best out of it, so I tried it foob and it was eh, waited 6 weeks and it was very good, was down to a quarter bottle in the reo and added GCD and it was heavenly.

And for me anything that smells of alcohol when I open it, even if i leave the cap off for 12 hours to burn it off never seems to loose the perfume alcohol flavor so I immediately pass those on now.

The basic rule is not to let juices sit in sunlight and high heat, reportedly screws up the nicotine. I keep most of mine in a drawer or a tackle box where I keep my DIY and coil building stuff. Brought one out the other day that had been in there for a month or more. When I tasted it at the B&M I liked it, brought it home and it was too much! Now that it has been sitting for a month or more, I like it again!

Two vapes that I like are Blu-Bacco and Razzelberry (both Mount Baker). When I first got them a few weeks ago my wife didn't like either one. She tried them again last night and now my Blu-Bacco is being taken over!!! I make a lot of my own juice so it is not uncommon for me to let some sit for quite awhile before finally getting to them. I am convinced that steeping, or aging, really does make a difference

You know I'm not sure it is Steeping or the overall change in personal taste buds that changes the way a juice tastes to each individual.

I find that over time I start to dislike juices that at first taste were fine to Great and then others that I've had for a few weeks, opened once and tasted then set aside as I found I didn't care for it or found it to be disgusting, turn around to "Hey this really isn't that bad" to "Hey this is good juice".

Then if you use a local shop to taste stuff before you buy then when you get home with what you bought, thinking it is the juice for you, found it really didn't taste all that good in your gear. I find my Nautilus tastes different than the Kanger Mini Protank 3's I have and certainly the KFL+'s I have and the same juice in any of the other two taste different from the other tanks.

About the only juice I keep going back to, straight with no mix of other juices, is Halo's Tribeca. I also use that juice with just about every other juice I vape, mixed in one ratio to another. But I like the Tribeca the most in a Halo carto on a G6 battery. It is something that is always with me.

Easily Five Pawns' Fifth Rank. When I first tried it I put the emphasis on 'rank' in my mind, and a month later it had evolved into a complex, smooth, delightful warm weather vape.

Most every Five Pawns variety I've tried gets so much better with age. There is a fine line - their stuff also peaks and heads back to a valley, so vape it while the getting's good. Especially amazing after a sit is Grandmaster. The blend of flavors reveal themselves to be much more than just a peanut butter vape.
