I know that some liquids need to be steeped because of the taste but why does steeping make them taste better? I got some moo
juice(1 flavor shot) from MBV and I liked the flavor but felt like it wasn't enough flavor so the last I got 3 shots. Why does it have to steep longer because of the flavor shots in it? What exactly happens chemically when it steeps? Sorry for all of the questions.
Two main things are happening when e-liquids steep.
One, they are oxidizing. When oxygen meets the
e-liquid, it causes a chemical reaction, one that is necessary and beneficial to the proper flavors coming out. TOO MUCH oxidation CAN be a bad thing.....but only after a LONG period of time. Most e-liquids should be fine with occasionally opening the cap for a few months.....
The second thing steeping does, is allow the flavorings, VG/PG, and any other additives to MIX PROPERLY. Most e-liquids are made PER order....and then shipped out as soon they are made. They don't have any time at all to mix properly. Steeping allows them to mix properly, and thus allows the proper flavor to come out.
As I mentioned in another thread, there are some very common tastes/problems you'll run into with non-steeped eliquids:
1) soapy / floral / alcohol taste
2) NO taste, or very little flavor at ALL
3) Tasting one flavor, but not the others. Or one flavor overwhelming the others, thus making the e-liquid either undesirable, or in the very least, not reaching its potential
