Excellent article with a no-holds-barred approach, and in a major publication.

NorthOfAtlanta, yep, "antismoking jihadists"....Sums up the ANTZ in 2 words. Absolute brilliance.

except I'd rewrite it as
Antismoker jihadis
to highlight the anti-human focus of their barbarity

Also, ANTs: Anti-Nicotine Tyrants. Describes their tyrannical attitude towards vapes and smokers.

It's a better description but you lose the ability to say `or as Steve Forbes calls them "antismoking jihadists"`with a link to one fine pro e-cigarette opinion.

This is a case of government stupidity that has caught Mr. Forbes's attention. The OP link is the second article he's written on the topic. I'm a subscriber to the print version and read his first rant about it about a month ago, then forgot to come here and share it. His editorial is the first thing I turn to when the new issue arrives.

"But there’s also another factor at work: an intolerant, puritanical mind-set that is offended because e-cigs make abstaining from or giving up cigarettes too easy. Forsaking smoking should involve pain, not pleasure!"

Really good phrasing of this concept that we've pointed out from time to time :) Points to the great H L Mencken quote on puritans. And smart of Steve knowing who his readership is. lol.... But that's only one side - control for the sake of control is the other - his "The fanatical fervor of antismoking crusaders won’t be stopped by objective science." fits that perfectly, as well.

They'll never do it, since it's politically unpopular to both audiences. Now if the report included something about lung hemorrhages or dead puppies, CNN would run it. Likewise, if there was some sort of White House conspiracy or ISIS tie in, Fox would be all over it.

Favorite part:
The fanatical fervor of antismoking crusaders won’t be stopped by objective science. The reason? E-cigs too closely resemble the real thing–which is like waving the proverbial red cape in front of a bull. But there’s also another factor at work: an intolerant, puritanical mind-set that is offended because e-cigs make abstaining from or giving up cigarettes too easy. Forsaking smoking should involve pain, not pleasure!
