Just got a new xL manual and I'm having a difficult time pressing the button. I have to use so much force that it actually hurts to use it. There is no movement at all with the button. My other xL there is a noticeable feel of the button going down and making a little feeling when it hits the igniter switch. Is there a fix for this sticky button or is it defective?

I have a new bronze one that is a bit sticky too. Not as much as yours though..bit annoying is all.
I had a similar issue a while back, only I was not able to activate the battery no matter how hard I pressed. The button was locked in the out position and did not move at all.
It was defective and v4l replaced it no problem. I would definitely contact them about it.

I have one of those too. But it was a replacement for another defective battery, so I'm not going to contact V4L. They've been so good about replacing defective batts, and even a wall charger! Plus, the money I've saved during the sales makes me feel bad telling them about the battery! One day, if I'm in the mood, I might take it apart and see if there's a way to fix it.
If you have to press that hard I would say it's defective. I have 8 xls and none of them are like that. Notify CS if it's still under warranty.
I have one with the same issue as yours. Do this first - get a can of compressed air and shoot it all around the button. It might be just some dust buildup, maybe some little pieces of lint in there, but enough to prevent the button from doing its job. If it still seems stuck, squirt a little electrical contact cleaner in there and push the button a bunch of times until it acts like it is freed up. Then, blow it out again to dry it. I did all this and it is working much better now.
