Ok, so I've asked this question a couple of different ways, but I'm not really finding the answers I need...Possibly I'm asking the wrong questions>:D
I want to move on from the 510, but I'm not sure what I should get next.
I'm tired of the 510 because I want more vapor production, better batt life, and the taste has not been as good as I think it should be. I've read about mods that could enhance the performance of my 510, but I really don't have the time to do mods, and I'm not really sure that's what I need anyway.
I'm considering something like a dse905 because I know where to get one pretty cheap, but I'm not sure that's what I need either.
Please Help!

Thanks

If you aren't getting good vapor from your 510, then something is wrong. Could be the atty, could be the juice..?? Are you using VG? It does put out more vapor than PG.

Yes, the battery life does suck. There are mods you can buy for longer battery life.

Taste...depends. Could be your tastebuds are off if you were previously smoking analogs...could be because the atty isn't quite broken in yet...could be the juice (some do just taste nasty), and I tend to find in my experience, certain flavors do better with a 510 atty than others. Fruity flavors are not one I like on the 510. Coffee, tobacco, etc. do really well on the 510.

I think you may be looking for an atty that doesn't burn quite as hot as the 510. Unfortunately, I have no idea what models have that feature. Being quite the noob myself, I currently only own the 510, but am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Juice Box. I'm hoping I will like my fruity flavors better on it, it will end my need to constantly top of the carts, as it contains an entire bottle of juice that will last for days...and battery life in it also lasts for days.

I know a lot of people here like the Janty e-go, so you may want to look into that and see if it's something like you're looking for. I'm sure many others with way more knowledge than I have will be along to also try to help.

You don't need to do a mod you can buy them already made. Things like the chuck, little chuck silverbullet, bartleby - are all battery mods that vape at higher temps (you can get ones that use a 3.7v which is close to the 510's) or jsut last a heck of a lot longer.
I can't make stuff eitehr - heck I even failed with PTB/straw mod  but if I wanted a mod for lonegr battery life, hurrah, people make and sell them, so i don't need to be a genius with a soldering iron.

I was kind of in the same situation that you are in now. Frustrated with the low stock battery life, vapor production...e.t.c, and was thinking about getting a 905 also. But in the end I went with a mod, ordered some parts from Madvapes, and built a little Nico stick. And now i'm glad I chose the mod path, clouds of vapor, can go all day on a single battery, (not constantly vaping my head off...hehe)!

If you dont have time to build a mod yourself, there are several mod suppliers on here that will build you one for a decent cost:)

Just my 2 cents, hope you find a PV that will satisfy you...good luck!

My current mod is a VP2 from VaprLife. It uses an 801/302 atty and adaptors are availble for other attys. It's 3.7V and I routinely get 8-9 hrs battery life easily. I think the 801/302 is a wonderful atty but really pretty equal to the 510 in my experience.

I'm on a 5V hunt right now and have kind of narrowed it down to three: Silver Bullet (Altsmoke), Super Six (Super T Manufacturing), and the elegant and wonderful GG lineup. You can find all of these on this forum.

But I agree - if you're not getting good vapor with your 510 you might have a flakey atty. It might just take a while for your taste buds to recover from smoking; many people don't taste the flavors very well, even for a long time after quitting.

If you've swapped out your atty my recommendations would include long, slow drags and direct dripping. You can find flavor enhancing drops at Tasty Puff - good stuff!

Good luck and keep trying. Vaping can be a pretty steep learning curve but it's worth it.

Howdy y'all!

I own a 510 and a penstyle. Just got my new Puresmoker Protege in yesterday, and I haven't been able to put it down since. The vapor production is top notch, the flavor is stellar, and the throat hit is excellent. All in all, I'm a very, very happy vaper. Dripping with the 510 attachment is easy and very pleasurable. I still use carts with the penstyle atty though. Never can seem to aim right when I try to drip with it. Still, penstyle + carts + Protege = awesome. I have never had a mintier menthol in my life.

Peace!

Have you considered the DSE 905 from MadVapes LLC? (The "no box" one seems to be the only one in stock.) I have an eGo, and I do like it, but if I had it to do over again, that's what I'd probably buy.

It doesn't use stock batteries. It uses rechargeable 3.7V Li-Ion batts which cost less than $5 each (they're not included with the kit). Scottbee posted in the following thread that while most people think stock batts are 3.7V, they don't actually run at 3.7V: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/65055-battery-voltages-surprise.html.

Also, Mad Vapes sells an adapter for $2.50 which would allow one to also use 510 atties and carts with it, and I *think* that it would use cartomizers without an adapter if one wanted to try those. That means one would be able to try all three types of e-cig on an assumably true 3.7V device.

ETA: After watching this review, I have to take back what I said about how I'd probably buy the DSE 905: YouTube - The DSE-905 electronic cigarette. Yikes!

Mod or KR. If you try KR you'll probably need a mod for that too. IMO if you spend too much time trying other stuff, particularly based on the cost factor, you'll just find most of it is another e-cig that isn't any better than the 510. The KR808D-1 is the other thing out there that is not like anything else and many (including me) like it better than the 510. Most people end up with either/both the 510 and/or the KR, and most people end up wanting a mod in either case.

Or you could spend a lot of cash over time buying a bunch of different models that aren't any better than what you have. If you do decide to do that, I'd recommend buying different adapters and atomizer types for the batteries you already have instead of trying to buy whole new models which is really not necessary to try around...usually.

Start with a battery mod with a 510 connection and a 510 to KR adapter with some cartomizers to try them out. You can order the Chuck and a 510 to KR adapter at the same time and get your cartomizers elsewhere. Or you can order the Prodigy and Cartomizers at the same place and get your adapter elsewhere. I don't know of a true one stop shop for the package I'm recommending...

This stuff really confuses me. You buy a 905 but use an additional battery. I need a whole picture tutorial on some of these things, what it is, what else is necessary to use them, how they are put together and used.

Links with complete pics and explainations for us newbies would be great because I am getting bored with my 510 too. Tired of charging and would like something that holds more juice/less filling.

I think the problem is that most of us newbies start off thinking of an e-cig as a package deal, and the battery is part of the package. However, there are adapters to use different atties with different batteries. It's not a package deal. What makes a 510 a 510 is the atty and carts, *not* the battery. This is how I've begun to look at it, anyway.

Even rechargeable batteries eventually die, and proprietary batts are expensive. The 905 that I linked to in my previous post is actually a housing for a standard rechargeable battery that's made to fit an e-cig atty. Open it like a flashlight and drop the batt in. When that batt dies, you replace only the batts instead of the entire housing that attaches to your atty.
