I just can't find a non-tobacco based flavor I can vape normally other than menthol. This includes a maple syrup tobacco, black cherry tobacco, fancy tobacco-type juices and cigarette brand imitation tobaccos juices.

Anyone else?
Am I a vaping weirdo?
Should I get a stamp on my forehead to warn people off???

I'm three months away from three years vaping and I still vape some kind of tobacco eliquid every day. The only thing that has changed is I no longer crave straight tobacco flavors or flavors that have an ashy taste like a burning cigarette. (Which there are really not too many of these days anyway) Honestly though, I no longer associate "tobacco" flavors with smoking. They just work for me. They don't become cloying, aren't icky sweet or rich, and are just overall satisfying as a vape. I have always kept a few fruit and desert flavors on hand but they only serve as spot vapes and a change of pace. I always go back to my tobaccos for day to day vaping. Everyone has their own tastes. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. One thing I have discovered that gives me the same satisfaction as tobacco juices from time to time are tea flavors. They give me a similar taste experience as tobacco juices but are different enough to be a nice change.

I think all of us ex-smokers have one particular fondness for cigarettes that we're unwilling to let go of -- for me it's TH, just can't be happy without it, a good solid tingle almost like the first sip of a freshly-opened coke. For you it seems to be the flavor of tobacco. No biggie, if you're happy with what you vape, then be happy and enjoy it. I add flash to all my mixes, to get as much TH as I can, and also use the TH-nicotine from VT.

But from my relapse last summer, I can tell you this: no tobacco vape really tastes like smoking -- it can get close, but it's always going to be sweeter than actual burning stinkweed.

What are some of your favorite tea liquids (flavors/vendors)?

It's just a flavor. If it satisfies you, there's no need to question it. I vape all sorts of tastes now, but there are still occasions when the tobacco flavor scratches the itch for me.

I agree! There are two sorta tobacco-ish flavors I mix, one called "Smocha" -- smoky mocha -- and right now, a cherry vanilla pipe tobacco that has that awesome full-mouth tingle if I vape it right after eating. but if I do vape anything tobacco-ish now, it has to be the sweet kind, which I used to loathe; I enjoyed a really bitter-sweet Virginia at first, and now can't abide it.

I enjoy several tea blends from Ahlusion. I believe he extracts the flavors from actual tea leaves. Some claim he makes the best teas in the business. I certainly agree that they are darned good.

On the flip side. Slim's ejuice, a discount vendor, has black tea on the menu and will ad any flavor to it that you wish. Most vendors don't offer straight up tea and usually blend it with a fruit, vanilla, caramel, peach, cream, etc to take away the bitterness/dryness of straight tea. That said, it only takes a small amount of fruit to overpower the more subtle flavor of tea so don't request too much of something else with your tea if there is a customization option. I ordered black tea from Slim's with just a touch of caramel and pear, at my request, and it is fantastic. Ahlusion has had that combo in their line up as well and it's very popular, though a little heavy on the pear IMO. Tastes vary so maybe you won't even like it, but I sure do and a lot of other tobacco loyal ECF members have also added teas to their rotation.

Tobaccos are more interesting than the candy stuff, IMHO. All the fruity stuff ... ehh. Give me a complex tobacco any day!

I do some of the other stuff, but tobaccos are the best. Ever try hot cinnamon? Makes a great palate cleanser.

Last time I vaped/2013 all I enjoyed was tobacco flavors, or as near as I could get. Now I don't like them at all.
Taste buds are a funny thing. If you enjoy what your vaping, go with it!

When I had my relapse in the summer 2014, the sweetness of all tobacco vapes is really what put me off the Virginia I had been using -- it was really nothing like the cigarettes, but I was determined to get back to vape-only, so I figured, if it all tastes sweet to me, I might as well start trying out some sweet flavors and see what appeals -- pineapple, blueberry muffin, and now the strawberry & cream DIY have been my main vapes ever since. But sometimes those sweet tobacco+other flavors hit the spot; they're nothing at all like the virginia I used when I first started vaping! :D

For the first few months of vaping, I really liked a mix of 'Turkish Bold' and 'Mojito' flavors from the vendor my startup kit came from, even though I tried a bunch of different flavors from them and others. Now I'm mixing a liquid with 'Key Lime' and/or 'Perique Black' flavors. That is pretty much my 'set in stone' mix. I do try some other flavors occasionally, with different PG/VG ratios, but I really don't like anything else.

Unlike most, I didn't start vaping in order to quit smoking, I quit smoking because the tobacco flavor I could get from vaping NET was more enjoyable. An ex-pipe smoker, hybrid tobacco flavors are all I enjoy. Synthetic artibaccos don't impress me, it's the genuine flavor provided by a well crafted NET that I find satisfying. During my 40 years of smoking I may have tried 100 or so different pipe blends, cigarette brands and cigars but in just three years of vaping I've extracted and sampled the flavor from well over 200.

I've been trying to work on some hybrids as well Str8. So far, I'm not striking the right balance. What would a typical breakdown be for you, in terms of a NET-to-artificial-flavoring ratio? I've been playing at 50-50 and just haven't struck on anything that I fancied better than the straight NET (playing with caramel and hazelnut, mostly).

Depends on the tobacco (extract), and secondary flavorings that are in play. When using a reduced (concentrated), tobacco extract I typically mix it at around 2 - 7% with all secondary flavorings (like caramel, vanilla, pear, Biscotto, crème ...etc), being slightly higher at around 12% of the total depending on the flavor(s) used. I also enjoy taking a retail juice, like Ahlusion's Caramel Wild Wood, and adding 5% of well aged, concentrated extract of Sutliff's "Voodoo Queen" (a Virginia, Perique tobacco blend), for a genuine tobacco presence that is forward in the mix. Adding 3% concentrated extract of Dunhill's "Nightcap" (a Virginia, Perique, Latakia tobacco blend), to Charlie Noble's "Tripoli" or "Pistachio RY4" is outstanding as well. The only limit is your imagination and creativity.

    Im on the same boat.

I started out with a tobacco ( supposedly) and found most other flavours too sweet and too smelly. Yes, smelly. I felt like I was in a candy store or bakery.

I still enjoy the smell of cigarettes, pipes and cigars ( good cigars)

I vape a LOT, so I cant afford to use my NET all day. I finally came up with 2 simple very light DIY: Mint and a light pineapple/strawberry ( 3% ) which I use mostly and leave my tobacco for those special moments such as with my coffee, or relaxing.

My DIY does not really have a scent, I ask everyone all the time as I dont want to be annoying.

I buy NET tobaccos that are drier and less sweet each time. I try my older favorites and they make me gag from the caramel or vanilla that seems to over power most. I had to actually buy triple strength real strong perique, latika and other real strong single leaves so I can dilute the sweet ones by adding VG and then adding some of the strong tobacco to balance it all out. I also have a few coffee extracts to add to some tobaccos that are too tart.
