Hey ECF!

For some reason my mod only fires when my battery is positive side down. I have tried cleaning my connections, I have tried two different batteries, I tried adjusting the pin on the top below the tank and also the pin on the button, I also tried on one battery to peel a little bit of the wrapping off to positive top side to get a better connection. (btw there is no edging showing so you dont have to be worried :D). So yeah I am lost on what the problem could be. Please help me!! <3

Maybe someone who knows that mod better can give a reason, but from a pure electrical science perspective, what's wrong with the battery being "backwards"? It's a mech mod, you're just powering a coil, right? It's not an electronic device that's going to be polarity sensitive. So my solution would be just put the battery in backwards and vape.

The reason must be that either the top pin doesn't make good connection with the positive side up or the bottom switch doesn't make good connection with the negative side down. You probably just need to make some adjustments on the mod, not the battery.

But Nate is right. Its a mech mod. There is no circuit boards in there. Its just a metal tube. It will function the same with the battery either way.

Placing the battery upside down isn't advisable because the entire battery, aside from the positive button/cap is negative.

If you have a compromised wrapper and the battery upside down, it's entirely possible that the circuit will be completed without pushing the button; short city until you've removed the battery.

I wish I could offer some advice, but I just wanted to chime in on why it's not a great idea to settle on using a mod when it requires the battery to be upside down. Hope you get it figured out, OP.

the only time the stingray hasn't fired for me, is to much insulator on the batt. Make sure the 510 contact pin is pushed all the way up before screwing on the atomizer. That way on is sure there is contact there, since can feel the center pin being pushed down.

Only other thing to look at is the switch housing. take it apart, make sure everything is clean, reassemble, making sure everything is tight. Switch should have a very, very, short throw. If everything is making contact, it should fire, unless your space is being influenced by the Melkot, or something like that:D

Had this problem.
some batteries have the protective sleeve wrapped over the neg. end too far for the large button screw of the stingray to make contact (see picture)
try trimming the sleeve off the neg. end of battery. just be careful Not to trim past the edge.(i remove the screw head from the button unit and hold it on the battery for a template and trim around it)

The Stingray is built to house the battery upside down. This is true on my Stingray X and my wife's black copper Stingray. I've only ever come across 1 Stingray that did not house the button upside down.
No it's not. All my Stingrays house the battery positive side up. As others have said, housing it in reverse is potentially dangerous.

Your opinion may differ, but you are still wrong. The positive connector, on the top side, is called positive connectot because it connects to the battery positive. If your Stingrays won't function with the positive against the atty there's something wrong with them (or, alternatively, you're using batteries with too much wrap at the negative side. Using the battery in reverse is potentially dangerous.

heres five, from two different company's, all have the batteries pos end up.
I can not find any manufacturer technical documentation on what way the battery is "supposed" to go.
Then again, i find no documentation on whether a car battery and jumper cables should be used on it or not.

sometimes you just need to use some common sense.

P.S. the car battery comment was just a joke!!!!
figured i better say that, i mean, if people are actually putting their mod batteries upside down, who know's, someone just might try that too. lmao

For the record, I have a 4nine that worked only with the battery reversed. I tend to err on the safe side and have batteries dedicated to each mod. I stripped of the covers of both batteries and re wrapped them being careful to keep the wrap at a minimum at the negative side. Maybe only a millimeter of overwrap. Now the 4nine works perfectly.

I got the shrink covers (10 for a buck) from orbitron. Very easy to use.

The authentic Stingray was NOT designed to house the battery upside down. I have an original Phantom Brass and I do not need to invert the battery. Look at Todd's reviews - he doesn't invert the battery either.
