I can usually refill a cart one time, and it will wick mostly dry, and then after that, it starts taking much less fluid, and only wicks two to three drops before needing topped off. I don't think the polyfil carts were ever meant to be refilled more than once or twice, so not really flawed, just cheap and room for improvement :D

Trilogy stock carts come with fluval like ( be that the brand used or not) white filler and do wick dry. I can refill them 4-5 times before i have to wash the filler, or replace it. The problem with them is that the juice they use has little flavor and, they don't fill the stock carts enough to begin with.

Ya I've got a supply of the blue foam and I'm just waiting to burn through my stock carts. It made me curious though because it seemed odd that stock carts should perfom so poorly.

From a marketing standpoint, carts that don't work get replaced with more carts, so maybe from a business standpoint they work perfectly

See I'm a dripper or a carto user (when on the road or too busy to drip) so I don't use cartridges, however I know someone that's used that "teabag mod" and lemme tell you-- this guy has been using the same one for WEEKS now...
so I don't know much about it but apparently this teabag mod works well for what it's worth...
