i have noticed there are some vapers/ex-smokers who seem to have forgotten what it was like to smoke. you loved it. you may have hated it as well, but you did, in fact, enjoy it at one point. when someone told you that you should not be smoking, you got mad at them. you thought (or maybe said), "it's my choice. i realize the dangers involved and have made an informed decision to continue doing this because i enjoy it. get off my d*** and shut up." we all feel this same way still about vaping. so stop demonizing people who want to continue smoking cigarettes! resist the urge to join in the non-smokers hate of smokers just because you are happy you beat that particular addiction! it's rude, hypocritical, and makes you look like a jack***. thank you for your time. windxrunner out.

EDIT: I originally said "I feel like there are quite a few vapers/ex-smokers..." That was a little over-inclusive. I have changed it.

Amen! I still have a cigarette every now and then. I quit for health reasons. I'm only 33 and I have a BAD heart and need a transplant. The doctors can't smell ecigs on me so the don't black list me for a transplant.

I have noticed on many issues you find hypocrites if they are Ex whatever vice of choice. Recovering addicts and alcoholics are the biggest ones I have EVER met and before anyone blows a fuze, I have earned my right to say that, I'm an recovering addict myself so... Next would be ex smokers who flat out quit, tend to become vigilante nazis lol but I haven't had to many run ins with ex smokers who now vape. Keep fighting the good fight and thanks for bringing up this topic! Was a good one.

Smoking is a valid, legal non-choice once you're addicted. If someone smokes, I understand. I understand that it's not a choice they are making, some absolutely hate it, but it's addiction and addictions are incredibly complex things to just "shake off." Cigarettes are one of the most addictive drugs available and worse than many that aren't nearly as legal (but better than some, too). I've been off the analogs for 5 days now, not a long time, still perfectly in the danger-zone for relapse, so I can only speak for myself when I say vaping has already changed my life. Naturally, I want to pass that on to the people I love, even if they aren't ready, especially if they aren't ready, it's really about planting the seed of change and letting them grow it for themselves that is important. However, I'm not going to bash someone's head in over the fact that there is a valid alternative. It's counterproductive. All you have to do is think about how you felt when smoking to realize how true that is.

I still smoke cigars. I am around 3 a month and may stop completely. That is something I never thought I would say.

If you want to smoke, drink, or eat a quadruple burger loaded with mayonnaise that is one's choice in life. Relish it while we still have choices.

Well said! :)

People should be allowed to make their own decisions on what they want to do!

I wouldn't say there is no choice involved. Smokers have been demonized by almost every facet of life to the point of making smokers hate themselves. At the simplest... brainwashed. I can still choose to smoke. I made a decision to switch to a less harmful way. That was a choice.

Is it unhealthy.. yup... But is there anything else we do that is unhealthy?

Quite simply.. if you can't put down your vape equipment and walk away.. you are addicted to it. As a smoker, prior top the demonization, how many times did quitting smoking come up but your response was, I like to smoke. Think about it. Now the response is, I like to vape.

I don't notice so much putting down of smokers, but alot of putting down of the habit and how much the vaper now hates the smoking & the smoke, etc. That is sometimes hard to separate out from "demonizing the smoker," I think. I sort of cringe when I read some of the vapers' comments about smoking now....When we smoked, it wasn't so much that we were "demonized" as smokers, but that our habit was demonized and the attempt is being made to remove the habit from society. We went (outside, away from others) with our friend the smoking habit so we too felt rejected by nonsmokers....So, yeah, I don't want to make others feel that way, knowing how I felt when I smoked.

The only time I get annoyed with smokers is when I'm forced out into smoke-filled enclosures with them in order to use my APV. I've made a positive step in my life, I'm no longer inhaling smoke and I no longer smell like an ashtray. I also no longer go outside into freezing/raining weather to satisfy my addiction.

Unfortunately, these 'vapor is the same as smoke' rules cancel all of these benefits out, and I can get a bit snippy when one of them walks up to me and starts hassling me like "What is that, is that a [Other stuff]?"

Well, I hated smoking for about the last 15 years that I smoked, but couldn't do anything about it (tried, couldn't quit). Didn't really enjoy it, thought it was gross, and hid it from most people I knew. I also thought I was a bit of a loser for not being able to quit even though everyone else I knew had done so.

I also never got mad when someone said I should quit. I agreed with them.

Do I look down on smokers now? A little bit. I also looked down on them (including myself) a bit while I was a smoker.

I'm not demonizing anyone btw, for anyone who thinks I'm being unreasonable. I gave spartanstew props for being honest. I just think looking down on someone who does what you yourself used to do is lame. I think vaping kicks ... and smoking is kind of stupid to continue to do in this day and age, too,,,but some folks are obsessed with the whole "you gotta kick the cigs for good or your not doing it right" aspect of vaping. I did say a few days ago that I occasionally smoke still, but I actually haven't smoked since I posted that and don't plan on ever doing it ever again. My mini protank 3 might have had something to do with that though. :vapor: :thumb:

Many people have a need to hate. And those people like to target a "group", whatever that is. Over my lifetime all the typical groups have been excluded from what is socially acceptable to hate. Except smokers. Our culture even encourages that behavior- toward smokers.

Vapers will be next. Because these people need someone to hate.

I'm not a hater, just a long time observer of human nature.
