By drilling out your damn RM2.

These pictures are convincing, yes?

Hey man, if your happy that's all that matters!

I found with getting the air-hole to 1/16 was a nice balance. It's gives enough room to wrap coils on either end of the resistance spectrum between regular resistance and certain degrees of sub-ohm. Higher resistance isn't way too airy, certainly not as airy as I remember a Protank V1 puff being; and lower resistance merely involves a bit more effort to keep the vape coming to avoid any harsh throat hit, but it's not obnoxious by any means. There is plenty of room between those two, low affecting potential problems.

What I'm getting at is I'd be careful about insisting people drill their air-holes out to 1/8". That's pretty much a one-trick pony of an air-hole you have there, and there is no going back. Being a former smoker, mouth to lung is pretty normal/second nature, and I would definitely not enjoy having to experience sucking a 3-6 second direct lung hit with my morning coffee just to make my device produce flavor, vapor, and not burn my throat.

I really think adjustable air-flow is the next big thing, considering how much of a desirable and successful topper rda's have surprisingly become.

The past 2-3 days I've been using my Trident that I never tried until now.

I wrapped 6 wraps of 29g Nichrome that I just measured out to 0.43 ohms and tried the different airhole configurations.

While I enjoyed the largest hole that I think is 2.5mm as it reminded me of how I used to vape, the flavor for the most part seemed to come more on the exhale.

Putting it to the roughly 1/16" hole, the draw was much tighter obviously and the clouds did become smaller but the warmth and flavor were closer to what I've had my RM2 set to.

Almost done rebuilding my Reo though, kinda just tore it apart to see if I could rebuild it myself before my rebuild kit comes. I just need to find a better way to set the fuse and I'll be back in business.

You, sir, are having some fun; and that is a good thing! Air is an equal factor in the glorious triumvirat of vaping, fo' sho'. I've got the adjustable thing going on, and I've been playing with it (as well as with lung hits, a little). I'm finding that I get the best flavor, TH, temperature, and clouds equal to what you're saying but better than your pics with something in the range of 1.4-1.5mm (under 1/16"). Also, the lung hits . . .. well I don't have taste buds down there, as it turns out. The resistance of the build, the ability of the battery to deliver, and the v-drop of the device all come into play when choosing the appropriate airhole. And, of course the preference of the vaper.

right now (and for the foreseeable future) it's Mundy's Magic @ ~.45Ω and cotton w/ ~1/16"ID. "Ante Mundis", it was 26g Nichrome, @.5Ω and a slightly smaller ID. I also find that the 1.5mm airhole allows me the most dynamics, as far as how fast/slow I draw the air. It's still mouth-to-lung territory; but I can enjoy a straight lung hit off it too. (but that's pro'ly particular to me) The 1.4mm is pretty much the last stop for strictly mouth-to-lung.

What are you wrapping around? 10 wraps around 1/16 bit of 26 ga nicrhrome gets me ~0.75 on my multimeter.

I'm also using a 1/16th bit in my jig. I might have to try a 10 wrap sometime, the most I've done for a while is 8.

Whoa. Sorry. I thought you're meter was off or something, but I just reread your post and I was off. Been a long day, my bad.

Vape on my friend!

Damned if I can see any reason at all to drill.
Personally, i thinks it's tip top just as it is stock.
J.

Me too. I'm shooting for as close to analogs as possible. Any bigger than the stock hole and all I get is a big ol' arid, flavorless, thin cloud. With the stock hole size, I get tons of flavor, a thick, moist vapor and a decent cloud. I'm all about the flavor and a warm moist vapor (in that order and I don't think you can have one without the other). Giant dry clouds without flavor are low on my totem pole.:)

and I'm convinced that one of pdib's fabulous leather bound (like) doors will enhance my vape, too

45 years of mostly 2-3 packs a day, and i never knew anyone did lung-hits until i stumbled on ECF. do cigarette smokers actually do that? with camel unfiltereds???

i never really figured out this vaping "big clouds" fascination. when i was smoking, any time i exhaled a "big cloud", i just figgered i didn't get my money's worth on that drag... i never once met a ciggie smoker in love with clouds...

ETA: didn't intend to reflect on OP by that. i love his pics and the fact he's having fun!
