Stopped using 901 due to suspected allergy to PG liquid

Hi,

I first purchased my first e-cig, a dse 901 around 3 months ago and with much excitement started vaping.
However, i found when vaping using PG liquid that i would get a severe headache almost instantly.
Because of this, after a week or so of vaping i slowly started to use it less and less and for the last 2 months its been sat in the drawer.

Id really love to start vaping again but im also very apprehensive. There's 3 main reasons for this :

Because the headaches were so severe and meant having to take time off work im slightly reluctant in case the same happens again.

When using my 901, and after reading up and trying everything possible to solve the issue. I was unable to get any throat it and barely any smoke. I could taste the flavour of the liquid and for the first 2 puffs the smoke and throat hit was good but after that nothing.
Im using a fully charged battery, a good atomiser and making sure that there's suffivient liqiuid in the cartrige. But still nothing.

Lastly there's the cost. Ive spent sooo much on e liquids that i cant use.
I bought 15ml medium strength, menthol PG liquid from e cigs.co.uk that has been opened but never used.
I also bought 30ml of low strength VG liquid from juicy liquid in america but it came in cherry cola flavour instead of menthol. So that has never even been opened and it was really expensive.
I found it hard to find any company that offered VG liquid in low strength menthol but my favourite supplier liberty flights has just started a new range.

So im about to start my quest with vaping VG liquid. I really hope it goes well but im very dishearted at how badly ive done already and that my lovely e cig has sat in the drawer for over 2 months. It doesnt bode well.

Lastly and im sorry for taking up your time, does anybody know where i could purchase some empty cartriges for my 901 so that i could add new flavours to them?? I cant seem to find them anywhere!!

Many thanks
champagne katy x

ps. if anyone would like the medium strength (14mg) menthol PG liquid from e cigs.com let me know as i have no use for it xx

Chris at myfreedomsmokes.com has all you need. He gives ECF members a nice discount(see his posts in the forum suppliers section) has awesome shipping, and hand mixes juice on request. I had some 50/50 vg/pg cappuccino juice made and it is tasty! Alot of other juices are inferior quality (pesticide grade) and could account for the headaches. For reference, symptoms of PG allergy include eye ittitation/redness/pain, black fecal discoloration, depression, porphyria, and seizures. So if all ya got were headaches, prob just ....ty liquid with bad byproducts.

forthwith I don't know where you got your list of symptoms for a pg allergy?! I have a severe reaction to pg and have none of those. I have symptoms like severe asthma attacks, bumps and sores on my scalp, face, mouth and throat, my fingernails peel, and I get rashes, stomach aches, my teeth hurt. People have different kinds of reactions to pg.
I've been using my ecig for well over a year, without pg. There are a lot of really good vg juices out there. I bought a ton of juice I threw out or gave away until I realized that most of the juices that are vg do use flavorings that have pg in them. The only two I know for sure have no pg are Johnson Creek Smoke Juice's Red Oak Line (great return policy, too) and ECOpure (Cignot.com). I seem to be okay with Rath Juice occasionally, too.
Sorry I can't help with 901 carts. I use 901 attys, really liking the LR901s, but I am a dripper.
Hang in there champ!!

Hey. There are tonnnnns of places to get empty 901 carts. Here are two sites you can get them. Totallywicked-eliquid.com or .co.uk if you live in the UK. Those are just two off of the top of my head of a long list that i know.

TW is a great company. As far as your symptoms... that sounds like a mild allergic reaction to the PG you've been using. I say mild because even though your headaches are severe, you don't have the other symptoms that are common. I'm sorry to hear that though, that really blows.

VG should resolve the problems you're having as far as the allergy and the low vapor you're experiencing. VG puts out sooo much more vapor and generally tastes better (IMO).
I hope everything goes well and you're able to vape again... Have you gone back to analongs if you don't mind me asking? And if you haven't, good for you, I know I probably would in that situation. Cheers.

Oh I forgot to mention your atomizer might not be up to par too. You say you have a good atty but it might either be dying or might have arrived bad. Do you have a good atomizer to compare it to? If your atomizer is in perfect working order, your batteries might be malfunctioning... Batteries do this over time and after so many charges.

I agree totally with aschmidy regarding the PG allergys and sensitivitys. Everyone is different and the allergic symptoms can vary greatly. I got rashes, small itchy bumps, swollen taste buds, after ignoring these symptoms my lips, tongue and throat swelled somewhat and until I tried VG only I thought I would have to quit vaping entirely. I have found that I can tolerate a small amount of PG but MUST have primarily VG in my e-liquids.
Good luck I sincerely hope you find a way to make vaping work for you.

forthwith In the first place spreading rumors that other juice suppliers contain pesticide grade pg is just wrong, and untrue.

Secondly nicotene withdrawels will cause severe headache in a short amount of time.
Yes try the vg only liquids, cignot has some nice clean tasting vg liquid as do other suppliers . Tasty vapor will make it however you want it and it really good juice.

As was previously stated, the type of reaction that a person might have to PG is going to be specific to the individual because we all have different chemical make ups to our systems.

The first thing that I would experiment with is the percentage of nicotine that you are using. Too high of a nic level causes be to get severe heartburn and makes me feel light headed. If your symptoms continue the switch to VG liquid, this type seems to get along much better with most peoples systems and the only thing that you may have to do to it is cut it with some distilled water because VG tends to be quite thick.

I have experimented with many types of e-liquid and it is going to take some time and money until you find one whose e-liquid you enjoy. I have gotten like 10 different peach e-liquids from different suppliers until I found the one that I liked.

Your only other option would be to get the supplies and start mixing your own liquid so that you can find the ratio of ingredients whose flavor pleases you the most.

First and foremost, you must find out what is causing you to get these severe headaches!

Don't get discouraged!

aschmidy, check this out: http://www.sciencelab.com/xMSDS-Propylene_glycol-9927239

mini_art, I didn't name any names, man. I'm just sayin do your research. I got some real "bargain" juice at one point that really screwed up my breathing, and in retrospect I should have done the research and got some quality juice. After all, It's going into my body, better be quality.
