My vintage 70's Plano tackle box finally gave out, so I decided on this as a replacement. With coupon, it was ~$60 from Harbor Freight.

The top is the deepest compartment with plenty of room for my away-kit, multimeter and my huge iTaste 134. Since it's the easiest compartment to get to, I keep other frequently needed stuff there as well. The six small drawers are interchangeable, and two of them (third row down in the picture) have removable press board divider insert that fit all my mods as if I made them myself. The two wide bottom drawers are just a little deeper than the small ones -- deep enough to lay in 30 ml juice bottles.

There is a panel that slides out from a slot under the drawers. It has a nice felt patch set flush in the center that makes for a really nice work surface when building coils and other fine work. Slide the panel all the way out and it flips up to cover the drawers.

It's a traditional design machinist's chest with a diamond shaped "safety mirror" in the lid (I guess machinists are careful about their appearance,) and the finish is really very nice. The felt is good quality pool-table stuff in emerald green.

It has a weird random hole drilled through the front panel, and the hardware is a little bright for my taste, but trust me, if that's all I can find to complain about, this is a quality product.

On the social front: It comes with two sets of keys; one for the top box and another for the drawer cover panel lock. Neither of these are serious security measures, but they make me feel better with vape-curious teenagers in the house. Mrs Farm says it's a vast improvement over the tackle box and hey, if mama's happy, everybody's happy.

I use an old Gerstner, which this is very similar to. $60 is an excellent price.

Love that I can keep atty parts separate from rebuilding supplies and tools.

I always know where to find my cotton pads, spare batteries, and wire spools.

I'd recommend this to anyone accumulating small parts. And I think that would be most of us!
