Hey guys,

I've ordered 4 VTC 4 batteries for my hana modz V3 that I'm waiting for in the mail.

My question is how to properly store batteries that I don't intend on using right away. I shouldn't have ordered 4 but I did, now I just want to store them with peace of mind.

Is there anything I should be aware of? Can I put them safely in a case and keep them somewhere for 4-6 months?

I plan to use the Hana Modz V3 to charge the battery I have in the device so I haven't gotten a charger yet but I plan to.

Thanks for the help!

There's small battery holders to buy.
There's tons of them at FT. I'm sure pretty much any vapor store got them.

They're like small plastic boxes. :)

You should keep batteries in plastic containers, but from what I understand about batteries of this nature, they degrade with time- from the day they are manufactured. I would put them in rotation, not set them aside for later.

I've read that if you're storing batteries they're best saved at 50% capacity, not full or drained out :)
Edit: But yeah, i would rotate them aswell.

You are correct. To minimize the degradation, they should be stored at a 40% charge level. How to Store Batteries – Battery University

Batteries like an 18650 should be stored at 3.7v. I store mine in a sealed plastic container in the refrigerator. They should be checked every six months and never let them drop below 3.2v. When they drop recharge to 3.7v. You should be able to keep batteries this way for 10 years. I've already got some I've had for over a year. When I get them out for use they are as good as any new batteries I've ever purchased. I learned that technique here, but I don't remember exactly where at the moment.

Is there a danger in them dropping below 3.2 while in storage? Or am I only in danger of wasting 10 bucks down the line?

Not as long as you check them every 6 months. They drop very little and very slowly in refrigerated storage.
