Strange battery is Very Warm not even in use

What do you think the problem might be? I've disconnected the atty about 5 mins ago and the battery is still warm... I placed it in the bath tub just to be safe. Any thoughts?

Edit: went back to check on it after posting this... the LED end(1/4 of batt length) is still a little warm but the rest of it is cooled down.

sounds to me like a "classic" Li Ion batt failure - it probably vented and the gases are hot.

Would not recommend using it or even putting in in/on the charger. Hazard dispose and get a new one.

Thanks! i suspected a failure although the battery is still able to power an atty. But I'll take you advice and gutt it for parts

Of course I'm just guessing...I'd have to say I have no doubt your battery has an internal short.

Get rid of it!

sounds like the battery has probably 'poofed' on you.

Its the circuit board. Good thing you got it in the bath before the battery got too hot!
