Strange battery is Very Warm not even in use

What do you think the problem might be? I've disconnected the atty about 5 mins ago and the battery is still warm... I placed it in the bath tub just to be safe. Any thoughts?

Edit: went back to check on it after posting this... the LED end(1/4 of batt length) is still a little warm but the rest of it is cooled down.

sounds to me like a "classic" Li Ion batt failure - it probably vented and the gases are hot.

Would not recommend using it or even putting in in/on the charger. Hazard dispose and get a new one.

Thanks! i suspected a failure although the battery is still able to power an atty. But I'll take you advice and gutt it for parts ;)
