Hey guys...brand new to vaping and am looking for a little help.

I received my Joye eGo kit on Monday and have been extremely happy with it. However, this morning, one of my batteries started to feel kinda warm. There was now a big difference between the temp of this battery and the other one that came in my kit; the other one feeling normal, maybe even a little cool. Maybe about 30 mins later my "hot" battery went dead, so I popped it on the charger. Well, about 3 hours later, the batt hadn't fully charged yet and now was extremely warm(BTW my other battery took just over an hour to completely charge). I decided to take it off the charger and test it. Minus the temp, it's working perfectly fine right now. The batt has cooled down to the "kinda warm" stage now, but I'm still a little wary to use it.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I still be using it?

I'm really glad I chose to go with the eGo kit, because my other battery can last me from wake up to bedtime...so I'm not completely hooped. Otherwise, I might have to go to my pack of analogues stashed in my glove box. Haven't touched them since I got my kit...hopefully it stays that way!

If it's an eGo i presume you are using the usb fast charger. If so, 3 hours seems way too much to charge a battery. Usually it takes not more than 2 hours to charge a fully uncharged battery.

As all batteries the ego ones get warm if you chain vape. It gets very warm (hot...) around the atty and it warms the whole battery. You can feel it warmer around the button. If you are not chain vaping and start to feel the battery warm up just return it!

Oh..btw : WELCOME!

Thanks portguy,

yeah I'm using the fast usb charger...so there's definitely something up with the battery.

As for chain vaping, when I noticed the problem, I hadn't even touched it for at least half an hour. I probably just got a dud, so I'll see what my dealer can do. He only has the kits for sale...no seperate parts. Hopefully he can work something out for me.

mykal: you're welcome. The joye eGo has started to ship from China just a couple of weeks ago. And yes...you are right: probably your vendor will not have spares to go with the kits as the batteries for the ego are not sold separately yet. Janty and TW do have spares as they were the "minds" behind the eGo.

Anyway: a kit has spares :> ! Instead of buying 10 kits a dealer should buy 15 and have 5 of those as spares for any dud that comes along. Hope that's the case.

.
Just a minor correction, the eGo/Tornado was invented by Mik at Janty, TW just licenses it and played no part in it's creation.

If the "housing" of your eGo/Tornado battery gets noticeably warm with "normal" use (standard atomizer/cartomizer... not shorted.. works fine on another battery).. then STOP using the battery. PERIOD.

This is not normal.. something is wrong.... it is defective.

For $20 there is absolutely no reason to put something defective that close to your face.

I'm as serious as a heat attack.

I contacted my dealer and he was very helpful. He told me that he'd replace it asap. He also emphasized to stop using it and keep it away from anything flammable. He suggested putting it in a tin can and leaving it outside and away from anything. After a couple of hours it went completely dead.

I've decided to order a 510 passthrough as a backup. I was considering extra eGo batts, but at around $25-30 a peice before shippping, i thought the usb passthrough would be a better option.

thanks for the feedback :)
