Ok, so I decided to change my BVC coil in my nautilus after a week. It was starting to taste burnt. I washed the tank pieces, dried them off, put in some fresh juice 5ml high, and put a fresh coil in. I waited 5 minutes, then pushed the fire button. Before I could even take a hit, this very strong burning rubber/chemical like scent emitted from the air hole. No vapor came out but the scent lingered for a few seconds and smelled very strong and disturbing. I was a little weary of even puffing on it afterwards. I started puffing on it and it gurgled a bit. The air hole still had that distinctive chemical smell coming from it and it was freaking me out. I unscrewed the atty and noticed the bottom of it was still wet and it spit some water from the air hole. It seemed dry when I put it on but apparently not. So I'm going to let it sit and dry overnight. I'm concerned about that chemical smell though. What could it be? Should I not vape on it in the morning? I do not want to inhale any toxic chemicals. Its a fresh coil! Anybody have a similar experience. Guys, please advise. Thanks.

Welcome to ECF Drifts! :) I'm not super familiar with the BVC coils. Did you prime it? Put a drop or two of ejuice into the coil and once you got the tank assembled, did you take some primer puffs? Primer puff it drawing on the tank without hitting the fire button. Obviously juice did get in there at least after you fired it up. Try it in the morning and if it doesn't work, you probably fried it. A dry hit is memorable, it's downright nasty, but it won't kill you. Can't be good for either, but it won't kill you. Good luck, we've all done so you're far from alone.

Welcome Drifts!

I'm going to echo what Flamingo said- sounds to me what you tasted was unprimed wick. 3 - 5 quick dry pulls (without firing) should be enough to pull enough juice into the wick.
