I am well aware of the issue with the KSD VV eGo batteries going into a protective shutdown by switching to 3.2 (red) immediately after removing them from the charger....it's not a big problem and it goes away after a few vapes. (See the thread a bit farther down about it)

However, I'm noticing something similar, yet different in a different situation.

I am using a 1.7 ohm smoktech carto at 4.2V (blue). I know this is probably a little high, but I'm using it with Boba's Bounty and the extra heat definitely improves its performance.

What happens is, when I get a good vape going and the carto feels quite warm in my hand, sometimes the light will flash blue a few times and, if I stop pressing the button, it will continue firing while the blue light is flashing....even though I've let go of the button. It usually flashes and keeps firing like this for about 2 seconds after I've let go. Afterwards, it is still on 4.2V (blue) and hasn't gone to 3.2 (red) like the other issue.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Should I not be vaping the 1.7ohm carto at 4.2V on this battery?:blush:

I don't know why, but I've also had this happen randomly twice in the last week using a stardust. The light flashes so I let go and it still fires. Odd.

hmmm, and that's with a SR Stardust? so 2.8 ohms or so.....so it's not that I'm at such a low resistance, then.

Are you also on 4.2V when this happens? It hasn't happened to me so far on 3.2V or 3.7V.

It also seems to happen only when I'm taking a particularly long draw and/or when the carto is quite hot......is this consistent with your experience?

It also only started happening on a brand new KSD.....it hasn't happened when using the KSD I've been vaping with for 6 weeks now.....though, I don't think I've used a 1.7ohm carto on that one at 4.2V yet...(which led me to suspect the high wattage as the culprit)

I had one eGo XL USB do the same thing, kinda. It would randomly fire - even when sitting untouched. It was like the button was getting stuck so I let the batt run down and threw it away.

Still having issues with my eGo VV as well. I've had to resort to my regular eGos cause I'm tired of having to switch it back to 3.7v all them time. *sigh*

Ok, This happens to all of my KSD's and I beleive it is a cutoff functiion.l I can reproduce the results by holding the button for 7 or more seconds on all VV levels red. redblue/purple and blue. It is just a safety cutoff. It does seem wierd that it stays on for seconds though. i think of it like, hey were shutting you down, better suck hard.

First off KillFace i am sorry to hear that....second believe it or not i have having the exact same issue but i have a 1100mA ego pass through battery..and when say it is exact...i mean it...well minus the blue ring thing as i only have (i think) 3.7V(?) Do be careful with your cart....this same issue burnt out two of my smoktech mega dual coils, a clearomizer AND two atties (one LR one reg) for a ego 650mA's :mad:
I am have now restricted myself to a 510 cart and have not had the issue since......
I am curious where you got yours?

Yeah, most eGo type batteries have this protection function, but the problem people are talking about here is that the battery will cut off in 2-3 seconds and reset back to 3.2v when using the KSD at 3.7v

@Martin ; it should be red 3.2v, purple 3.7v, blue 4.2v

No this is a different issue then the issue of having it reset back to red 3.2v. That issue had to do with over charging them. This is the cutoff function. The reason that this has been brought to our attention is because after the cutoff, the battery keeps activating the atomizer for 2 seconds. I find if I am going to take a big hit, I just let go of the button for a second after 3 or 4 seconds, then hold for 3-4 and this way I do not hit cutoff.

i can see the cut off thing for my, but i do not have a variable, it is a regular old 1100mAh pass through, and charging it through the wall charger without using. I read up on the one that i have, and i found (could be wrong) there is no cut off on it.....but it does the exact same properties as listed here. and when it does it burns out things. Like i said, had a smoktech mega dual coil blown (two of them) a clearomizer (the kind that light up), two atties.....so far a 510 cart on it is working. personally i ordered a 900mAh ego that is not a pass through, though soon as that comes in are two 650's and the very pass through that are going to be looking for someone else to bring them home
